Selector is a VST instrument plugin for controlling hardware MIDI synthesizers and other gear that responds to Bank/program change and CC messages.
With Selector you can easily switch Banks and Patches on your hardware synth, and automate it's parameters like Cutoff frequency and Resonance. (Or whatever controls your gear provides!)
Selector provides support for Cakewalk's instrument definition files (*.ins) for virtually any DAW that supports sending MIDI data from a plugin.
Instrument definition file consists of a list of a synth's banks and patches, and also definitions of it's MIDI controllable parameters.
Instrument definition files for various synthesizers are widely available on the internet, and you can easily make them your self.
As a bonus, Selector also supports Note Names, which is super handy for drum patches.
How to use:
Additional buttons:
MIDI thru: When enabled, incoming MIDI data (from keyboard & controllers) are passed trough Selector to receiving hardware gear.
Trigger CC on PC: Re-sends current CC knob values when synth's patch is changed (by using the drop-down menu or Program wheel).
You can, for example, adjust your synths envelopes to certain state, and check how it sounds with different patches/presets. Or maybe adjust your kick drum's tune to match your song, and test different drum programs while that tune is maintained.

Hi Seccione, .
Does it mean that need to add new instance of Selector plugin for each channel added ?
Meaning I must have instrument+plugin pair for each channel ?
Thanks.

Hi,
very nice. I will test it this evening. Maybe this is the last thing I missed in S1 tu use my keyboard with the onboard sounds by easily choosing the sound by their names.
Unfortunately it only supports instrument definitions from sonar and not the patch names / scripts from cubase. For cubase I create my own patch scripts as an XML-file. So I have to look for a converter (nothing found yet) or finally I had to create an ins-file by myself again.
Timo.
I'm trying to get this to work in Samplitude ProX3 Suite. As a Sonar refugee moving to Samplitude this would be so brilliant if it could work.
However, while I can load the banks/patches and can get it to appear as a plugin on an input track, I can't see the VST-Out appear as an input on another track, which I would need to route it to the physical output for the external synth. I've checked that it is ticked in Selector and have tried both the 64 and 32-bit versions.
Almost there .... please help.
Hi,
Did you ever have any luck using the Selector with Samplitude and the JV-1080.
I've got the INS files loaded etc but still no joy.
Cheers.
Brian.
Does anyone know of a mac equivalent please?
