SplinterTap

SplinterTap - Sample chopper/looper ensemble for Reaktor.

The SplinterTap chops up a sample adding pitch and offset to each step, in addition you can skip any number of steps via the onboard sequencer adding an envelope to the shape, further processing is possible with the Dynamic Filter, LFO Filter Bank, Reverb and Compressor.

The sequencer can switch between multiple samples, so you can have different samples triggered within the main loop, the number of sequencer steps can be set from 4 to 64 plus the clock rate can also be adjusted, modification to the sequence events is achieved by clicking and dragging with your mouse in the main window.

Further loop processing is possible with the Dynamic Filter, LFO Filter Bank, Reverb and Compressor.

In Stand-alone mode when you have a loop that you want to keep, just hit the record button in Reaktor and drag and drop your new loop to the desktop.

After the loop has been processed by the chopper it is passed on the effects section. Dynamic Filter > LFO Filter > Reverb > Compressor > Auto Gain Reduction. Each of the effects can by bypassed with the exception of the compressor and auto gain.

The Dynamic Filter responds to amplitude, following the volume envelope of the sequencer output, by using the High and Low Pass filters in combination with the resonance control you can shape your loop to great effect.

The Filter Bank is a very easy way to change the tone of a sound, the eight faders are kill bandpass filters, turn them all down and you get no output, the Shift crossfader moves the bands relative to each other.

The Dynamic Filter responds to amplitude, following the volume envelope of the sequencer output, by using the High and Low Pass filters in combination with the resonance control you can shape your loop to great effect.

A stereo compressor with Input Gain - Ratio - Knee - Saturation - Attack - Release and Output Gain. The two channels can be linked for stereo compression or you can let it work as two mono compressors on a stereo signal.

The Reverb has full control over pre delay, reflection size and includes high and low frequency damping.

Last in the chain is the Auto Gain Reduction and is hard wired and always active, this stops any overloading of the output.

The control panel below the waveform window selects the sequencer view for Sample, Start and Tune, you can activate play with the Play Loop selector, this allows you to switch off the sequencer whilst you are recording a loop to capture the tail end of any effects being used.

The control panel to the left of the waveform window adjusts the way the sequencer modifies the sample that is being triggered, these controls can follow the sequencer, be set to random or disabled, the envelope generator can be switched between active or off.
