Steven Slate Drums 4 is a Drum Sampler with 100 drumkit presets. The SSD Player is designed to be extremely easy and intuitive to use. Loading kits, customizing kits, mixing kits, loading and auditioning MIDI grooves, customizing MIDI maps, and routing discretely to a workstation are designed to be a breeze with the SSD Player. It also lets the user load their own drum samples to mix in with the Slate drumkits.

New in 4.0 are dozens of new DELUXE series kits that were recorded with extreme precision, resulting in a remarkably natural playability. SSD4 Platinum includes Rock, Metal, Vintage, Indie, Funk, and even Jazz/Brushes Deluxe Kits.

SSD4 Platinum includes "Mix Ready" kits. Included in these kits are the famous "Signature Kits", which are drumkits modeled after famous sounding artists and albums. Signature Kits include: Steely Dan, Metallica, Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Greenday, Nirvana, Pantera, Deftones, AC/DC, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Motley Crue.

SSD4 also includes a cymbal pack from Soultone Cymbals. These custom Turkish cymbals span from the dark VINTAGE series to the bright and shimmery EXTREME series.

SSD4 also has five kits in the Urban/Dance/House/Electro genre designed by producer Griffin Boice. These kits are processed with boutique analog gear to provide a fat radio ready sound.

I was trying all drum samplers around like Groove Agent 4, EZ Superior Drummer, FXpansion BFD3 and others. To me SSDP4 is a little bit better than BFD3. Sounds realistic. Worth to buy.

...as long as sync to host while auditioning grooves isn't important to you. Made me furious when I discovered that. Don't bother with the SSD forum. Was dead for months after I left polite, constructive suggestions. Not even an acknowledgement. I knew I was on my own at that point. Yep. I'm bitter.

I bought the custom pack and now I regret this much. I'm fed up with crappy pro drum libraries, SONiVOX universal drums have nice interface but sound like s#$% and use a lot of CPU, AD2 demo gives incomplete crappy kit and every single drum kit costs $79, EZD requires buying basic version to use extensions and this...especially the sampler is very disappointing. 2 GB of data contains only one kit, it allows to load your own samples but doesn't allow to layer them so it's useless and the original samples play very quietly by default. And the most annoying - the sampler barely fit my screen when detached. This was a waste of money (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻.
