Tube-Tech PE 1C

Tube-Tech PE 1C is a Pultec-style equalizer. The design marked the birth of Tube-Tech 25 years ago and was created as an exact replica of the original Pultec design. Today, the PE 1C is a vintage classic still in production and can be found in professional recording studios all over the world.

Tube-Tech PE 1C is a passive, tube-based equalizer suitable for many different sources ranging from bass drums and guitars to vocals. The equalizer features a Low Frequency section made up of two low shelf filters which can be combined to attenuate and boost at the same time. The High Frequency section has a peak and shelving filter working in parallel, which provides a smooth top end while not getting too bright.

The ability to combine the different filters and sections is what gives the PE 1C its characteristic sound, this is something which plays a crucial part in explaining the magic Pultec sound realized by this Tube-Tech classic.

Softube claims that the Tube-Tech PE 1C plug-in captures every nuance of the hardware version.

In Short:

  • Pultec-style equalizer.
  • Classic Tube-Tech sound, created together with the designers at Lydkraft/Tube-Tech.
  • Each and every component carefully modeled.
  • Unique interaction between filters.
  • Modeled output transformer.
  • Extremely analog behavior of frequencies, phase, distortion, etc.
  • CPU friendly.
