Wusik Wusik Station
This is an exceptional synth.
Looking at the other reviews it is quite daunting to try and add anything else to their reviews but I will give it a go.
Firstly, the sound quality. What is most impressive about the sounds are that they are so varied, some of the pads are absolutely inspiring and as for the "real" instruments, particularly the piano's, while they are perhaps not the best available they are some of the easiest to fit in a mix.
Secondly, the upgrade to v2, particularly for the big pack users, is extraordinary value for money. A massive sound library, and the improvements on v1 make this an valuable upgrade. The preset navigation system in particular is worthy of compliment as it is one of the best around. My only real complaint is that it can be a little difficult to upgrade if you have some of the related products which need to be upgraded as well.
Finally, the best part of being a wusik user is the user group and the outstanding support provided by WilliamK. The developer never seems to leave KVR except to work on more upgrades.
Overall, I would suggest you get this synth even if you don't think you need it as it is the basis for almost any sounds you could want.
In the joy of upgrading to v3 I had problems with the download. Within 24 hours, over a weekend, William (the developer) had contacted me, sorted out the problem, and I was up and runing. The Service provided by Wusik is simply without par. By all means purchase this product in complete assurance that you will not suffer for lack of developer support. |

DASHSignature TubiLeSax
This really is an exceptional VSTi. I had been looking around for decent sax samples for ages and while there are some which are quite good, they were out of my price range. Enter Tubilesax.
Tubilesax actually sounds believable, which to my mind is quite amazing as I have never really found a believable Sax emulation before. The sound quality, and the control over the sound, is sufficient to make believable sax a possibility with midi.
Pro's - Sound Quality, ease of use, and the presets give quite a good demonstration of the instrument.
Con's - Only the GUI really which doesn't quite reflect the professionalism which went into the development of the sound - however, it is still quite useable and with the introduction of skins this will cease to be a problem. |

I have to admit I am very impressed with this vsti synth. I would suggest that it is the first plugin synth which genuinely offers a "fresh" sound. While I obviously admit that the synthesis method is nothing particularly new, after wavetable synthesis has been arround for ages now, the quality of sound, cross rhythms etc, and the ease with which it is possible to find/create such sounds is a wonderful asset.
I would suggest that the strength of this synth lies in the more rhythmic elements, particularly in creating dense, rhythmically interesting pads.
My only real gripe is with the GUI which, while it is certainly functional, doesn't strike me as being particularly intuitive. Just my own two cents on that.
I would recommend that anyone particular interested in the creation of soundscapes etc using rhythmic, evolving pads will absolutely love this synth. Saying that, it is still quite competent for leads etc (not sure on base lines though?) |

Computer Music DS-404
This really is a good basic sampler. Sure it isn't Kontact or Halion but it really does provide high quality basic sampling.
My only real gripe with the DS404 is the GUI. While it may be just a issue of getting into the "habit" of using its four button system, it is certainly not the most intuitive method for editing a patch.
Pros - Good simple VSTi sampler, nice sound, very easy to install, good collection (with some fixing) of presets.
Cons - The GUI |

Sonic Reality Sonik Synth
This is an excellent product developed by an amazing company. The sound quality is simply superb and the number of instruments is constantly expanding as a result of SR's continuing development.
I cannot recommend this product enough. My only complaint is about the Sampletank format and not with the Sonic Reality itself.
Well worth the money and definitely deserving of positive comment. |

XT Software Cyber FREE
This is really not bad for freeware and as a taster for the pro version, it is very interesting indeed. It is very simple to use, important for those who have never used a Sampler before. However, the ease of use would have been improved if it had a manual of some kind and the GUI was a little more typical of the VST format. The GUI is certainly minimalistic and very clear but perhaps a little perplexing if you haven't used software synths for a while.
The Sound quality was quite good, the filter and ADSR is useful and easy to understand.
There are no presets, however, since it is a sampler this probably isn't a problem for most users. However, a few demonstration samples would make up for the lack of manual.
Previous versions were apparently incompatible with other multisample vsti's such as SR202 etc. However, this seems to have been remedied as I can no use it.
Overall definitely worth the download. |

This is a brilliant product, everyone should download the thing as it really is excellent. It is very flexible and is definitely worth the download. It is a vast improvement over TraingleI (which was alrady good)
Pro - Quality of sounds, particularly the presets are excellent, the GUI
Cons - There really are none I can think of.
This is the best freeware VSTi I have used since ninja! |

Dr SynC SynC Modular
This is a really good modular synth and deserves continued development. Unfortunately this doesn't seem likely as the principle developer is now associated with NI. The VSTi is extremely flexible but can be a little confusing if you are not already familiar with modular synth construction/design. Because of this the quality of the GUI is really important but is let down on this level.
The quality of the sounds is excellent and the available ensembles are of a very high quality. For what you get for your money, it is an extremely worthwhile purchase. |

Well, unlike almost everyone else, I don't mind this VSTi. It sounds pretty reasonable to me! While the GUI is very plain, it is certainly functional. While I admit I haven't actually written a tune using it yet (other VSTis always seem to fit better) I can certainly imagine it fitting nicely within a techno style track.
Well worth the download. |

What a wonderful synth for the money. It is very easy to program and the GUI increases the ease of use. It is a particularly pleasing VSTi to use. While the sounds are excellent, particularly bass and lead sounds, the pads leave a little to be desired (but only a little and can easily be fixed with some creative effect use).
My only real complaint isn't with the synth itself but a problem with installation. The original registration file sent to me crashed. After receiving e-mails from the developer, they informed me it was a compatibility problem with Netscape and proceeded to provide an alternative registration solution for me to use. Full marks for Customer Support!!!!! (This is why I deducted a few points for stability, the VSTi itself is fine!)
Download the demo and be surprised. It is certainly worth the effort to obtain this synth! |

Steinberg Model-E
Well, this vsti really isn't all that bad, it certainly sounds good. However, there are some cons with this synth. Particularly the GUI, it now looks really outdated (which I suppose it is!) Also, again compared with modern VSTi, it doesn't seem as intuitive to use. Perhaps that is just me (I will certainly grant that) but it does seem to show its age.
All said, it really isn't bad, just perhaps not the best value for money. If you want a reasonable replication of the sound, then it does what you want. |

Big Tick EP-Station
An excellent attempt to bring a really broad, good quality electric/electronic piano simulation to non Logic users.
The sounds are excellent and I certainly have had no problems using this VSTi.
The only reason for giving the VSTi 9 for the user interface is one of personal taste, it would be nice to turn the text part on or off, rather than having a lot of text always visible. This certainly isn't an important criticism as it does provide a wonderful interface while editing sounds (which obviously is of greatest importance) |

God I love this synth. It really is as good as everyone says and I can understand its continued popularity.
If you want a decent Hammond emulation you really can't go any further than this plugin. It has the sound, and is perfect for almost any kind of music (though I cannot really imagine it for more electro oriented styles) and so is really worthwhile obtaining. |

This really is a great VSTi, it has such a distinctive sound. While it is a bit confusing to program compared to FM or analog, it is certainly worth the effort.
The presets are magnificent and would provide most of us with a wealth of interesting/unusual sounds. So even if you don't want to get into programming the thing, it is still worthwhile. |

mda Piano
An excellent free VSTi which really does what it says in the name; emulates pianos. While the sounds cannot compare to a huge multisampled monster, they sound quite natural and with a bit of inventive mastering, they fit well in a mix.
While it has to lose some points on the manual score, it doesn't really have one, you don't need one. It is so simple to use. |

Excellent for what it says it does; emulate the Rhodes sound. In that sense it is excellent but perhaps a bit limited. (Certainly not a EPStation)
It sounds good, is simple to use, very stable... Go and Download it.
Could mda please put a front end on this thing, even something as bland as that on the mda piano would be an improvement. |

Sorry but this VSTi doesn't cut the mustard. What is it, a promo tool to convince Cubase users to purchase Logic? After all if they are really interested in broadening the appeal of their product, then they msut sell THE SAME PRODUCT as what is available to their Logic customers.
Do not touch this VSTi, purchase EP-Station or download the mda epiano. |

Well for a VSTi in such an early stage of development this looks really promising, especially now the major stability problems have been fixed.
Similarly, it is quite easy to use and really should be considered a most download.
Full marks go to the developer for their request regarding paying for the thing. Now the bugs are gone I will donate to an NGO as requested. |

This really is pretty good. Ths sound is realistic compared to my SBLive so full marks on that level. While the CPU load is moderately heavy (which should really be improved) for the price I suppose you can't expect much more.
In fact the VFM is the only real issue I have with this VSTi. When you consider the price compared with the Virtual Sampler etc, it would be a lot better if it were multi-timbral. As it is so easy to use (and you don't need Sampling capabilities when using Soundfonts, that is what Vienna is for) for the money, if the thing was multitimbral, it would be a much better investment. |

This really is a brilliant synth (particularly for the money). While I was a little doubtful at first, I found that this is one of the best synths around for really interesting pad sounds.
While there is a lack of presets, this vsti is so easy to use it really isnt't a problem. |

VAZ Synths VAZ 2010
Over all a brilliant VSTi, however, the way it integrates in Cubase is a little unusual. While there is no problem with the way in which it does integrate, it would have been easier to get to grips with the synth if it plugged in similar to the Native Instruments B4 etc (which are also stand alone programs as well as VSTi).
While the interface is not what I expected, I have come to realise that it is very functional in its own way. Okay, so you have to alt-tab to make changes, you still get another mixer, within which it is possible to plugin effects, and access to the full editing of multitimbral synths. It really is wonderful.
The availability of patches from user support pages are wonderful and certainly demonstrate the versatility of this synth.
The other important point to make about this VSTi is the incredibly small CPU usage. I was very impressed by the results. |

Excellent little VSTi. As I love FM this really is a wonderful addition to what I already have. It is a pity that the DX emulators I have used are unable to compete with this plugin. The sound is very true to the original Yamaha synths and is exceptionally easy to use. (This may be a bit of a surprise when most people complain about how hard FM was to program in the original hardware versions)
Overall it is almost impossible to find a flaw with this VSTi. When it is finally released as a full version this will be a VSTi to obtain regardless of the cost. |

Computer Music SR-202
A very Good VSTi for drum programming. The longer I have played with this thing the more impressed I am with its abilities. Of course there are problems, particularly as I use Cubase VST 3.7, it refuses to save bank information. While I am assured by Muon (the programmers of the SR-202) that this is the result of issues inherent in Cubase VST 3.7, it is a pain and the usefulness of VSTi would be vastly improved if this was remedied by Steinberg for those unable to purchase Cubase VST 5.x.
While the sounds of the preset banks are good, the power available to make new presets or alter the pre-existing ones makes it a worthwhile acquisition.
For those outside of the UK, particularly Australia, CM is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. It would be an advantage if the SR-202 became available at some stage for free (or a small charge) download. |

A very good sound module, the free piano is good, but the free Drum kit sounds wonderful with some use of the inbuilt fx. While it is obviously a promo tool to get us all to buy the full product, it is still very good. It would be interesting to see how popular this would be if it was possible for users to make new presets. |

Quite a good VSTi and I certainly haven't had any problems with it. While it is limited to Analogue sounds, these are very good and are capable of some wonderful basslines. Overall a very good VSTi.
The more I use this VSTi the more impressed I get. It is certainly easy to program and to get some really nice sounds out of it. |

Not a bad little VSTi. However, while the drum sounds are editable, the Bass sound does not appear to be able to be edited. This would vastly improve the situation. Also there does not appear to be any regular method behind the key mapping of the drum kit, which is only accessible on channel 10. Not a bad effort with some interesting sounds, but it needs more work to be much more than a curiosity. |
