u-he Filterscape VA
Filterscape VA is a great plug-in by it's own right, but also comes with a morphing EQ and a ultra-flexible filter plug to boot. Anyways...
UI: Very easy to use and navigate. Features are very easy to access and edit, and the little info display is really very useful.
Sound: Filterscape VA has the ability to sound harsh and biting, but also can sound smooth as silk. Quality is great and it can sit in a mix nicely.
Features: For a 'secondary' plug-in (the pack focuses on the Filter obviously) this thing sure has a ton of cool features that make it easy to build great sounds. Various non-standard sweet sounding oscillators, crazy modulation options, and a dope sub-osc make this is very flexible synthesizer.
Docs: I read the manual, but it's hardly neccessary. The manual is well written and concise though.
Presets: There are a ton of presets in a variety of categories from a bunch of sound designers, most of which are available directly from the website. It's easy enough to dial in your own sounds though, so they may not be 100% neccessary.
Customer Support: Top notch support, though I've only had to use it once for a lost serial number, issue which was dealt with quickly and effectively.
VFM: Well, you get the VA plus 2 other plugs, which both would get the same type of review, all for a very low price. You can cover tons of ground just with this set of plugs, and the overall feature set is ridiculous.
Stability: Unreal, never crashed once and I've had it for a number of years since it was released. Rock solid performance.
Overall, Filterscape VA is a great sounding and looking synth with a multitude of useful features and can fit in nicely to any musicians toolbox. |
