Electronisounds Ubergate

Ubergate is not just another trance gate plug-in. Rather; it is truly a Multi-FX work of art. Junebug and company have painstakingly created an FX unit that is intuitive and powerful. In addition to functioning as a standard gate, the gate section can be placed in a passthru or bypass mode. The independent attack, decay, and shuffle controls give you a high level of control over the operation of the gate. The gate has 4 parts with 16 steps per part. The steps can be tied together to create longer note duration. Using the ties in conjunction with decay parameter can yield some interesting results. The parts may be chained together to create an evolving sequence. The parts may also be switched via MIDI. The gate is smart enough not to allow the changes to take effect until the next measure.

The plug-in also sports two independent FX chains that are in parallel with each other. FX chain consists of a delay, filter, modulation, EQ, and channel module. The channel module is always active and controls how the outputs of both FX chains are mixed before leaving the plug-in. Each of the FX modules has been carefully crafted to give you the power to sculpt the sound to your tastes. Instead of inundating you with every parameter under the sun, the interface makes enough parameters available to give you control over your sound without requiring a master’s degree to use it.

The documentation is a wee bit sparse. There is no manual, but the plug-in does include a help screen that will get you up and running quickly.

A generous assortment of very good presets accompanies this plug-in. They cater to a variety of styles and really demonstrate the true power of this plug-in.

I tested this plug-in in several hosts and never experienced, a glitch, a crash, or anything unexpected.

Support is awesome. For every question I submitted, I had a response within 24 business hours. In many cases, the answers came much quicker.

All in all, the plug-in packs a powerful punch for a very fair price. I highly recommend it.
