Big Tick Cheeze Machine

Why is it that you pay £200 for a sampler and can't get a single decent pad sound out of it?

Praise the Lord for Big Tick and the Cheese Machine! Pure simple atmosphere applicable everywhere. I use this in every song now and would not be parted from it.

I don't care about whoops, buzzes and loops, I want the kind of VSTi that makes me feel so good I want to cry. And this one does. I wouldn't really call it a "string ensemble" synth, but there aren't really words for the kind of bottled mellowness this applies to everything. Wonderful.

I'd love to get more presets for this one, please guys load some up if you've got any!

I bought battery because I liked the fact you could build up an ENORMOUS drumkit - 54 cells, terrific!

Supplied drumkits are good, I like the jazz kit especially. However, I found the presets to be confusingly laid out and building kits was a most laborious task. If there's to be an update sometime I'd really appreciate a GUI for sorting out your velocity layers a la HALion or LM4. Also I've found myself going first to a HALion sample set rather than the Battery one to find samples to put in the drumkit.

But it's pretty stable - I had one memory spike go nuts once but since then everything's been OK.

Everything's down to quality of sample at the end of the day, and the ones supplied are fine, just a little difficult to find.

Splendid. Does exactly what it says on the can. Our band are about to use it at a gig in place of a real Hammond - enough said?

Everything you need to adjust is available to you, and the presets are extremely useful - given names like "Green Onion" or "Whiter shade". Every time I get to the organ part in any of my songs I get (good) shivers down my spine - my wife even looked at the Cubase arrange window, pointed at the B4 track and said "That's the bit I'm looking forward to".

I know nothing about Analog synthesis and can't honestly see what the fuss is about there, I'm a guitarist seeking as "real" a sound as possible and this fits the bill exactly.

It can be a CPU hog on smaller systems, but it's a breeze on my P4. My setup isn't terribly stable but has never had issues with B4.
