e-phonic Retro Delay

If I only had one fx plugin in my VST folder, this would probably be it. The GUI is lovely, and the combinations of delay and delicate mangling are endless fun. It's donationware so VFM is up to you, but I'd say a pretty heavy donation would be needed to make it score less than a 10. Cool presets, too. Some minor trouble initialising made me give it a low score on stability, but is probably unfair as the fault could be with my host (Tracktion).

e-phonic Drumatic

drumatic is a full featured and versatile drum module capable of much more diverse sounds than the included presets would suggest. fortunately the gui is well designed and cool looking too, so dialing in your own sounds is a pleasure in itself

the gui is documentation enough, and i never had a single stability problem in tracktion. e-phonic is right here in the forums, so top marks for costumer support, too

a nice warm sounding rhodes emulation with just the right amount of drive. i tend to use it with the eq way down for a mellow muffled sound, but it sounds fine in the top end, too. if you buy the full version you get more tweakability, but i don't really need it as the basic version is spot on for me

you can even be a cheapskate and get the presets for the full version, they work in the free version too. so extra points for features for that.

i have not been impressed by the previous 4front instruments, but this one is a keeper. rock stable, too

Big Tick Cheeze Machine

cheeze machine is smooth sounding and easy to use. the sound is not versatile at all, but that's a good thing. i'd rather have a small collection of simple instruments each with a strong character of its own than a programming monster with a hundred buttons and no soul

one trick ponies shouldn't score high on features, but this one gets extra points for having a stand-alone version included

in short, a classic!

A humble tool for hammered percussion sounds and nothing else. The range of sounds is limited, but it has a character of its own. The style of the interface is true to the sound: simple and predictable. There's really no need for a manual, there's a good range of presets included and more on the site.

I like it so much I wrote a poem:
