GTR comes with almost every amp, cab, effect, and mic combination you can think of. I actually have the real deal for most of these and know the tones very well after years of recording and playing. I’m not going to say that the software beats out a plugged in amp because that would be silly but this comes as close as I’ve heard until now.

I bought GTR mainly for the convenience. I can’t always be bothered to drag out this amp or that amp and hook everything up so when I need to record something quickly this more than does the trick. And if you’re not as old as I am with years worth of equipment accumulated (along with all the fights with my wife every time I bring something new home) then I would say this is well worth the value considering all the options you get. I think the two things I like best about it is the speed with which I’m getting tones and making presets, and the preamp that comes with it. Works well with the software and sounds better than expected so you can use it on other things also as a regular preamp/DI.
