The Tracktion Software Corporation, or TSC, was formed in 2012 to acquire, update, market and support the Tracktion Music Production software platform. The company's three principals, Julian Storer, James Woodburn and Dave Christenson largely focus on technical, operational and marketing duties respectively. As the original creator of the highly intuitive software platform, Storer was able to provide Tracktion with a completely new digital audio engine to be both compatible with user projects completed on previous versions as well as all of the latest computer operating systems, third party plug-ins and controller hardware.

DAW newbie here. I'm using T6, windows 10 (i know, i know...) both 64-bit. I need some help understanding what I'm doing wrong when I'm trying to scan and use VST plugins. I've downloaded, extracted and installed ezdrummer2, 10 day free trial and though the stand alone works fine, I cannot figure out how to get it to work with T6.

When I do a scan for vsts, I get the error message, "found what looks like VST plugins, but could not load them..."

What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded, extracted and installed ezdrummer (T6 is already set up according to instructions from their videos and manual).

After I extracted it (to the desktop), I noticed these zipped files inside the extracted files Host64, Plugin64. OK, complete noob question, what next?

Will someone please walk me through how to install and use a VST with Tracktion6? I'm hoping one of you will have the patience to relay some simple instructions and info.

Or, if you have a link to a page simply explaining the pertinent basics, that would be welcomed, too. I've look far and wide, high and low on youtube, various websites and wikis, to no avail. Ironically, the info I'm finding is either far too basic or meant for an advanced user.

Thanks! Your time is very much appreciated.

Often when I see that message, the VSTi has successfully been added but the error message is displayed because one of the plug-it's other DLLs was scanned but was missing the proper VST entry points. Check your list of plugins in T6 to see if you did get a valid entry for your plugin after scanning, despite the error message. Otherwise, you have discovered an incompatible VST plugin and that should be reported to the Tracktion developers so they can investigate it.

drag the VST plugin to tracktion>settings>plugins.

Hi, tonedef71, thanks for the response. I'm looking for ezdrummer2 which I believe should work with Tracktion, but I could be wrong. I'll report the issue to Tracktion to see what they say. Any other ideas? I honestly think I just don't get how to properly install and then scan for the plugins and/or am just not understanding a very basic thing about how plugins work in a DAW. But, I'll just keep plugging away at it (pun intended...hehe).

There's not much more to it; make sure that you have all of the root folders to your various 64-bit VST folder locations configured with Tracktion, and let the scan find it.

Just in case;) Make sure you know where the ****.vst file is located.

1 Goto Settings, Plugins.

2 Click on 'Scanning and Sorting'

3 Click on 'Scan for new or updated VST plugins'

4 You should see the file containing your ****.vst listed.

5 If not, click on the + sign, identify the file location and click on open.

6 You should see your ****.vst location added to the list.

7 Click on scan and ****.vst should be added.

You may get a warning about non-compatible vsts but they could be in any of the file locations in the scan list. Hopefully if ezdrummer is compatible.

it will appear, otherwise as tonedef71 says it's an email to Tracktion.

Traction is slightly quirky but well worth the the learning curve. Once you are used to its ways, imho it is a great DAW.

Just installed a licensed version of Tracktion Waveform (came with my Seaboard). While trying it out, I have heard a number of white noise pulses. White noise suddenly starts building and can be seen on the master output meters. It builds to a threshold and then stops. I have heard there is something similar for demo versions, but again, I'm using a licensed version! What's with this annoying noise?

Sounds like the demo mode noise. Did you register and reboot the Daw? Also verify on the about page that it is indeed showing registered.

It happened to me too, it's maybe one of your installed plugins, working in demo mode, check Collective, you have to register it, and some other "free" plugins that works for some days and then, boom! Pink noise every 10 - 20 seconds...

Hello! I apologize if this is a much asked question, but I am experiencing some trouble with the Tracktion T6 piano roll. I am not using a MIDI keyboard, just inputting the notes via the pencil function. The usual "preview" sound that I would normally hear when inputting a note is missing. It remains silent when I click on it too, when it would usually play the note. However, when I play back the sequence of notes, I can hear it like normal. I have looked through all the settings so see if I accidentally disabled something but nothing has changed, and everything is obviously working or why would the sequence sound normally when being played back?

I would really appreciate some advice on this problem.

I'm running T6 on a Mac.

Make sure the output is set correctly in preferences.

Drag the red + tab onto the track area and select create a new MIDI clip.

Drag the dark grey + onto the plugin area and put an instrument there.

Double click on the track and you should be able to add notes with the pencil and hear them, as long as they are within the range of the plugin.

To offer any more advice please submit more detail of the plugins and the platform you are using.
