Today, most audio production in professional broadcasting, Pro AV and Streaming relies on hardware solutions. We believe that the future of audio production is software-based, and the question is not if, but rather how quickly, this transition will occur.

The advantages of software are indeed compelling. Content producers, under increasing pressure to generate more content, will find the scalability, flexibility, and efficiency of software invaluable. This will facilitate the creation of more content in less time, at reduced costs, and with a smaller environmental impact.

The founder of the company, Jeroen Dieks, is an experienced broadcast engineer who has worked for companies like Discovery, Eurosport, NEP and United for over 15 years.

With a specialization in mixing for live events and post production, he developed a number of techniques and methodologies to automate broadcast mixing. Seeing the trend for increased video automation in broadcast workflows, he realized that in comparison audio automation had not had any real break throughs since the 1980's. He saw a large opportunity to use software and audio DSP to revolutionize the automation of the broadcast mix process. This was the origin of the LAMA AutoMix solution.

To develop his vision, he brought onboard two key co-founders, Yorgos Karafotias, an AI, data and computer scientist and Jochem de Jong, a DSP, C++ and audio plugin developer. Working closely with a number of key European broadcast companies, the team developed the prototype of the LAMA AutoMix solution. This solution was released in June 2020.

Based on feedback from development partners, it became evident that a primary challenge limiting the implementation of audio software solutions was managing and connecting audio signals from multiple sources and targets. This challenge led to the development of our LAMA Connect solution.

Finally, the most frequent request we received was for a true software replacement for hardware audio mixing desks. This was the origin of our LAMA Mix solution.

Moreover, software-based audio production allows users the flexibility to choose the most suitable location for audio processing—be it in the cloud, on-site, or on-premise. It also offers the freedom to manage productions globally, ensuring that top talent can contribute to any project, regardless of their geographical location.

LAMA Mix has been developed to replace traditional hardware mixers with the flexibility and scalability of software. With all the high-end features and functionality you would expect on a premium hardware desk, LAMA Mix challenges the expectation of what is possible with software mixing
