A small, but enthusiastic, new company developing products for Android phones and tablets. Started as an experiment to evaluate the potential of using JAVA (yes!) to develop musical apps for Android, it does seem to be possible (so far!).
The primary aim is to now develop easy to use applications for both fun, and potentially serious music-making. It is also an aim to develop first for phones where screen real-estate is limited, and then for tablets. Some android apps for music exist, but are often very 'fiddly' to use on phones because so much is crammed into the small display area. Many users probably have a phone in their pocket rather than a tablet, so simple apps that can be used to quickly sketch ideas whilst on the bus/train etc, seem like a good idea.
"Session Shed", a sequencer/sketchpad for creating drum loops/beats and simple bass lines, is our first released app. Once initial bugs have been reported and resolved, this will develop into a more fully featured application with additional instruments, EQ's, FX and a sample editor, but as a first release, I hope it will be seen as a bit of fun, and I welcome any and all users to take part in guiding future developments by commenting and discussing here at KVR about usability and desirable features.
I look forward to talking with some of you.
