It's weird how much some gems like this one can have so few success in the world of the sound designers...
Very true it is indeed a gem :tu: I have a soundfont set of CZ101 patches, but that's all. I wish I had kept my CZ programming books, at least then I could have given a soundbank a try on the Kassiopiea.

It is ready.

The file is called "Casio.zip", its size is 98.978.551 bytes, it is in my Depositfiles area (no need to login to download) and it contains:
  • Casio - CZ-1 - Operation Manual
  • Casio - CZ-101 - Operation Manual
  • Casio - CZ-101 - Operation Manual (another copy)
  • Casio - CZ-101-1000 - Service Manual Diagrams
  • Casio - CZ-230S - Operation Manual
  • Casio - CZ-230S - Operation Manual (another copy)
  • Casio - CZ-3000 - Operation Manual
  • Casio - CZ-3000 - The quick approach to sound synthesis
  • Casio - CZ-5000 - Operation Manual
  • Casio - CZ-5000 - The quick approach to sound synthesis
  • Casio - CZ-Series - Andrew Schlesinger - An insider's guide to Casio CZ Synthesizers
  • Casio - CZ-Series - Sound Data Book (the parameters of 48 patches!)
  • Casio - CZ-Series - Sound Synthesis Handbook (learning the Phase Distortion synthesis)
  • Casio - HT-700 - Operation Manual
  • Casio - RZ-1 - Owners Manual
  • Casio - VZ-1 - Owners Manual
  • Casio - VZ-8M - Owners Manual
Of course they all are in English, and some are multilingual.

Some of these books are highly interesting to build one's own patches.

Those called "The quick approach to sound synthesis" are slightly different each other because each one is made for a different synth of the Casio products.

And I highly recommend also to read the book of Andrew Schlesinger! It is very good! It is included in my collection above.

In addition, I have put in the zip file the direct links to these Phase Distortion synths in the KVR database:
  • (HT-700 emulation) plastique by de la Mancha (the only synth in this collection which is not Phase Distortion but an excellent emulation of the Casio HT-700 of which you have also the PDF manual in the collection of PDF files above)
  • Analog Warfare by Angular Momentum
  • Bazille by u-he
  • BLUE by Rob Papen
  • Cosmos by B.Serrano
  • CZynthia by AlgoMusic
  • Digits by Extent of the Jam
  • ElectraX by Tone2 Audiosoftware
  • Gladiator by Tone2 Audiosoftware
  • Guitar Controlled Bass Synth by Fretted Synth Audio
  • Kassiopeia! by Sonic Assault
  • KickMaker by Teragon Audio (a wonderful drum-machine based on Phase Distortion synthesis)
  • KXOMNI 600 by KX77FREE
  • Motion by Ugo
  • MuLab by MUTOOLS (a DAW containing MUX which uses many synthesis types)
  • MUX by MUTOOLS (the VST version of MUX above)
  • Nemesis by Tone2 Audiosoftware
  • PhadiZ by AlgoMusic
  • PhazOsc - Phase Distortion Synth by Fretted Synth Audio
  • PlastiCZ by reFX
  • Sinthecyza!2 by Sonic Assault
  • Sinthecyza!4 by Sonic Assault (Sinthecyza!2 and Sinthecyza!4 are not at all the same synth)
  • Zebra by u-he
And I have added too the link to the products of Fretted Synth Audio at Rekkerd. Two of his products for electric guitar are awesome VST Phase Distortion Synths that you can drive by an electric guitar. The file is called:
  • Fretted Synth Audio, freeware VST effect and instrument plug-ins
Have fun!

MidiMobiles have some stuff I haven't noticed before: http://midimobiles.blogspot.fr/ Here's a Google Translate english version of the site

It's the developer who made a few MIDI utilities in the 2012 Developer Challenge. http://www.kvraudio.com/developer/midi-mobiles

I haven't tried them yet, wants an email address for the downloads. Just a heads up for now.

That page also leads to http://www.dr-midik.fr/site/index.php?c ... usique/vst with some more MIDI utilities.

Hard to find, B. Serrano? Quite the contrary... he has never been as active as now. He is fully active (several wonderful new products just for the past six months alone!). And in addition the URL of his website has never changed.

I know him well.

Very, very few of his old products are discontinued, and those very few which are discontinued it is simply because they have been replaced by exact equivalents with new features and he has taken the opportunity to change their name because the GUI was much more "modern" in addition to these new features! If Benoit is considered as a developer of products classified "gems from the past"... therefore you can call all the products of all the developers as well. The products from Benoit are not at all from the past, they are actually and totally from the present.

Sorry, my mistake.

In my defense, from his website: "SynthEdit: © 2003" and "Windows 2000 users should install gdiplus.dll in c:\winnt"

He has released things recently though. I apologize.

Yes, he keeps on mentioning this little point because there are still persons who have those very old versions of Windows (and sometimes via a very old version of Linux).
:D

I take the opportunity to invite you to try Selena (made at the beginning of the year) and even more... Horus MKII (a new version made just some days ago of his Synth/StringSynth all-in-one). They are wonderful!

And also his brand new kit of 6 effects (there's even a paraphonic filter!) called IO where each effect has a multi-stage (32 stages!) envelope and which can run from 1 nanosecond to hours!!!

And listen also to all his superb songs in his Soundcloud channel (incredible, many of these songs are made simply with his free plugins! Very, very few are made with plugins from other developers):

Thanks. In a way, I'm glad I made this mistake in order to discover his new creations.
