ok. here's the electri6ity/guitar rig configurations I used for "Not One Of Us" (the basics anyway):

-Les Paul P90: (dist) DEMON, (amp) JUMP, (cab) Control Room (Vintage 4x12 V2)

-Les Paul Standard: (dist) MEZONE, (amp) CITRUS, (cab) Control Room (Modern 4x12)

panned the guitars left and right 75%.

I heard an awesome demo of slayer being controlled by a korg eltrovibe
,on youtube.I don't think you can demo it,the download required a serial#.
I updated my AAS string studio yesterday,It sounded great through guitar rig4,
but I could't get the envelope right.When a note is released,You get a clunk,
or a squeal. I've tryed changing various parameters, but still couldn't get it right.I've also demoed strum electric ,and had the same problems.Has anybody Ran either of these through hi gain amp sims? they sound great !
Is the full version of slayer in fl studio?

I've been through many different guitar VST's. Especially for metal/modern rock playing. I'm a guitarist so I'm picky but heres what I've found

Slayer - 2/10. Not really worth talking about. The first attempt by re/fx. It comes standard on FL Studio and is only worth using if you have nothing else available. And even then I'd rather use a saw pad in standard midi.

Real Guitar - 1-10. A friend bought both the "real guitar" plug ins and promptly was mad when he realized what a "toy" this vst is. basically this program is made for people who are NOT guitarists, cannot play guitar, and have very little idea how to write guitar parts. It uses a lot of riff sampling so if you plan on writing your own guitar parts it just won't work very well. I also personally think it sounds horrible.

Suburban Guitarist - 0-10. Not even sure why I mentioned this horrible horrible horrible excuse for a virtual guitar instrument. I'm not even sure why it would be made in the first place.

Applied Acustics strum - 3-10. Sounds better than both suburban guitarist and real guitar, but by the same token, its not saying very much. Overly this vst has a lack of general settings a twang you cant get rid of, and sounds awful through an amp simulator. If you try to Les paul amped setting on it, it sounds "ok" by iself but once you put it into any mix and it's just sad.

Papen RG - ?-10. Don't know. I don't like Rob Papens stuff. Even for other genre's like hiphop and electronic i think Papen plug in's just dont cut it when you're going for a professional sound.

Slayer 2 - 6-10. This is what i use to write with. It's low cpu and you can have a super heavy guitar with some altered settings. The only problem is that technically it doesn't sound real. There aren't really any special articulations, no bends, no harmonics, etc. Also every preset on Slayer 2 is a joke to say the least. Sounds horrible with most Amp Simulators even when used clean.

Shreddage - 7-10. Sounds more realistic than slayer 2 but for the effort of keyswitches and everything else it becomes an ok "low end" choice. Personally I think both LPC and Electri6ity are better. The program is less than $70 but it has ALOT of limitations that I've noticed. Mainly don't try to go outside of what your average nu-metal band would play. Also some of the articulation isn't right. It's like when you play a guitar chord in a vst instrument and it doesn't play the chord like a real guitar would resulting in an "off sound".

LPC - 7.5-10. Sounds better than shreddage same keyswitch type set up. Sounds about the same realistcally as shreddage IMO. It was one of those things where it sounded decent but not good enough for the price. It's "amped electric" side isn't very good. I would suggest if you're will to pay the money only get the clean version of this program.

Electri6ity 9-10. The problem with Electri6ity is its alot harder to use. Has ALOT more options and takes quite a bit of time to learn and tweak to a "real" usable platform. Even worse is it's new enough that not alot of information is out on it, and the company Vir2 isn't being very helping with provided working examples only video and mp3's which don't teach alot. It took me a week or so before I got a LP that sounded decent enough to use with all the settings.

So IMO if you are looking for something that sounds decent for demo's and writing go with Slayer 2. It's $99 still I believe. It won't sound "really real" but it can easily be tweaked to be brutal and workable for basic writing. There may be no bends, no harmonics, slides, pull offs, taps, hammer ons, etc, but if you write it like a real guitar and simulate all the velocity and articulations it can sound decent.

If you want to put in the time and have the money go Electri6ity. It has a sharp learning curve, not alot of information, and only goes to c tuning. But it can fake a real guitar very well. Especially if you are a guitarist and understand how to write out what you actually play with articulations, muting, etc. The last person to be able to tell if it was fake or not listened to a song that was written in all power chord with no articulation and not being played like a real guitarist would. once I programmed the articulation the best answer was "I think that guitar may not be real but I can't tell".

Have you tried Orange Tree Samples' EEG Strawberry?

How do you think it stacks up to Electri6ity?

Okay, I've been using DAWs and VSTi and VSTs for what seems like forever. I used to be in many bands and I always sought a certain sound. TONE IS EVERYTHING!
I finally found the perfect combo of VSTi and VST for my perfect Metal sound.
What I've used here are the following:
Kontakt 5
Shreddage 2
Shreddage Picked Bass
EZMIX 2 with the Metal Guitar Gods Expansion (for bass, guitar, and lead)
Maybe some added reverb and transient shaper on the drums.
Other than that, evedrything came from the list above.

So, what do ya think?
