Is GForce M-Tron Pro still the best "Tron" vst?

Finally purchased M-Tron Pro with the Streetly Tapes Vol,1. Didn't get much time after installing last night but was not blown away until I woke up this morning and went through the Streetly Vol. 1 expansion. HOLY SHIT!!This is so good. Cannot believe how great this is. Have not been this excited over music in a long time. I'm always so late to the party.

It was on my radar for a couple of years also because I had the Mike Pinder Akai CDR version already as well as various other samples. I thought I overspent last night when I briefly went through some stock presents and was finding my way around. Then I hit the Streetly expansion this morning and I realized how ridiculously inexpensive this is. It's so worth the $228 I spent for M-Tron Pro + Streetly Tapes Vol. 1. I will pick up the other 2 Streetly expansions shortly.

I guess I never revisited this topic. I did end up buying M-Tron Pro with all the expansion packs a while back. This is a phenomenal collection of sounds, and clearly a labor of love. I really can't recommend them highly enough!

I have yet to buy any expansions, but I've been dying to add on. M-Tron and later M-Tron Pro had been on my radar for years before finally purchasing and I was glad I did as well. It really is a great collection.
At times I wish it had simply been a Kontakt instrument because it would allow for more customization but I still love it all the same.

Yep Streetly...
Although I'm now getting by with Hollow Sun NewTron Bomb III and the Leisureland Mellotron samples as compiled for Kontakt by fabel2112. Because I wanted to go all/mostly Kontakt for samples based stuff (with the exception of Alchemy).

I have the Hollow Sun NewTron. I am curious about the Streetly tapes. Are they very different?evilantal wrote:Yep Streetly...

How is the M-Tron Pro GUI interface on newer screen with high resolution, is it small, or OK?
M-Tron Pro is always a plug I have wanted, maybe there is sale coming...

Based on info at GForce M-Tron comes with a lot more content:Fleer wrote:How would M-Tron compare to Re-Tron for Reason, soundwise?
M-Tron: Nearly 200 total tape banks
Re-Tron: 25 tape banks

it's ok, not good compared to Imposcar 2 but then there isn't that much on the GUI anyway.Numanoid wrote:How is the M-Tron Pro GUI interface on newer screen with high resolution, is it small, or OK?

I pretty much have all the banks - before Pro I had Mtron, one of my very first VSTs and still a firm favourite.

By sheer amount of tapes available, it's the best out there.
I only wish it allowed extending the top and bottom keyboard range by stretching the samples. Sure it wouldn't work for all sounds, but perhaps using some timestretching it could be a very useful sound design tool.

yes I must admit that drives me crazy at times - I'd probably use that more than I do the other "cheat" of looped samples.
