We need a new king of Hammond plugins!

I am not a Hammond specialist, but I love the B4 plugins from NI ( Don't know if they're "good" or "bad", don't care, they sound great to me ).
Anyway, I could enjoy this playing with any emulation from the last 10 years ( at least ):

I haven't seen any option like that for VB3. If you use a synthesized or sampled organ, you could do it.dwozzle wrote:Yup, that's what I thought. The action on both my keyboards is pretty light (microKey61 to mess around in the living room, SY99 in the basement "studio"), but the thing is, I'm not actually much of a keyboard player. I can play enough to write and arrange, but I'd never gig on keys, no way, at least not at this point.
So for me, keyboard wimp that I am, I'd like the option to turn off the single triggered percussion behavior. Am I right that VB3 is too faithful to the original to have that option? Didn't find it in the UI or the manual(s).
Down memory lane, I think my band back in the day had a C3 and a 147, more sure about the C3 than the Leslie model. It was totally completely awesome. It was also a fairly serious bitch to get up multiple snowy flights of stairs in the dark loading in. But we were young and stupid and fearless, no problem!
Another option would be to create a percussion sound with another synth, and layer it with VB3. Run them both through the same Leslie sim, and see how it sounds.
For 'normal' Hammond playing, I'm content to have my clone mimic the real thing as close as possible, but there are times where it's nice to be able to go beyond what a real Hammond can do. EX mode on Korg's CX3, BX3, and Kronos series is nice for experimenting. It doesn't let you change the triggering type for the percussion, but it does give you several mixable percussion footages, and several additional drawbars. Maybe not what a B3/C3 purist might want, but there were some Hammonds, like the H series, that had more than nine drawbars.

Did a fairly quick comparison of some myself tonight, on guitar only, and here's my $0.0002...
IK Amplitube 3: Sounds good in general, though somewhat lacking in high end. That's probably realistic, but I'd like the choice. It doesn't have a lot of options in general.
XLIS LX122: Didn't like this at all. Sounded very artificial to me, phase-y, like a Univibe or something.
Melda MRotary: Best of the lot. Tons of control, sounds good.
Didn't get a chance to try the one in Guitar Rig 5, and I think there might be one in GTR3 Solo too that I also didn't check. Didn't see a way to use the one in VB3 for anything other than the VB3 organ. I liked it pretty much in that context, but tonight I was concentrating on guitar.

I'd like to see/hear Martinic try his hand at a Hammond emulation.

VB3 comes with an FX version. I don't know what DAW you're using, but it's showing up with all my other FX.dwozzle wrote: Didn't see a way to use the one in VB3 for anything other than the VB3 organ.

EVB3 ...An elaborate emulation in itself that IMO might have been hard to compete if it had been sold as a VST plugin instrumentaMUSEd wrote:For Mac users there is the Logic VB3 which I prefer to all others anyway.

Hmmm, I don't want to launch Studio One right now since I don't have an audio interface connected, but the only things in VB3_v14_Win_VST_x64.zip are that dll, license, release notes, and 4 pdfs. There's no separate fx version dll.DocAtlas wrote:VB3 comes with an FX version. The file I downloaded is listed on their site as 'VB3 - 1.4 - Windows VST x64', since I'm on Win 7 64 bit using 64 bit Studio One. However, just to check, this morning I downloaded the 32 bit version, listed as 'VB3 - 1.4 - Windows VST', and it DOES contain VB3fx.dll.
Seems like the 64 bit 1.4 download is missing the fx version. Or, much less likely, is the fx-only version really only 32 bit, and you're supposed to install both if you're on a 64 bit host?
Are folks who have the fx version using 1.4? The dll I have doesn't have version properties in it, so you might not be able to check this directly, but are you sure the fx version you have came from 1.4, or might it have been installed with an earlier version?
I just wrote Genuine Soundware about this through their contact form, will see what they say, but I'd be interested in how others got this working.

Got an immediate reply from Guido, the fx version doesn't exist in 64 bit yet, not until the next release. That's clearly stated in the News section, which I didn't know existed.
Will try the 32 bit version w jBridge when I get a chance.
Edit: Originally posted that it doesn't exist in 32 bit, not what I meant. Corrected to say that it doesn't exist in 64 bit.

Um, no. It doesn't exist in 64 bit. Thanks to Joachim for pointing that outdwozzle wrote:Got an immediate reply from Guido, the fx version doesn't exist in 32 bit yet

My impression was that TONS of people downloaded the free betas, but hardly anyone purchased the final product; even though it was VERY reasonably priced; and the developer lost his motivation to keep the project going. Quite sad; partially because he payed SO much attention to detail, and it appeared to be a labour of love for him. At the time the Nubi3 plugins were widely regarded as being as good as or better than NI's emulation.Jace-BeOS wrote:Yeah those have beautiful interfaces and good sound... I bought a licence for Nubi, and even though the project died I'm happy I was one of the few who did. One day I'll get it running on my Mac.

Haven't checked them out, but there was a short period when most or all of his stuff was free, and as of now, you can grab it here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200611272131 ... nubi3.com/
I'm sure they don't want tons of people downloading from there, but I doubt anyone else has a right to host the files, so I'm not sure what else to do.

Interesting, I forgot NubiLE was donation-ware. I don't think Nubi (the 1st version) was; I just recall it was very affordable (it must have been as I had hardly any money back then), and that once it went 1.0 not much happened. So I guess I'm just recalling the lack of support for the first version. Guess making the LE version donation-ware was his alternative approach which bombed too.dwozzle wrote:http://web.archive.org/web/200703240856 ... Nuts. There's a whole bunch of us (myself included) that deserve a kick in the ass for letting that happen. Course, maybe PJ should have hung on a bit longer to let word spread.
Did the Nubi3 series get any mag reviews? That might have helped big time.

Ah. I haven't installed the 64 bit version yet. I haven't been near my music computer much of late.dwozzle wrote:Got an immediate reply from Guido, the fx version doesn't exist in 64 bit yet, not until the next release. That's clearly stated in the News section, which I didn't know existed.
