PPG WaveGenerator For Mac And PC *Out Now*

I purchased both a while ago and I love them to no end. The only thing bugging me is the cp. I don't like having to request another code when I can arbitrarily be turned down for whatever bullshit reason they might want to come up with. I never even cared about this kind of thing before until I started seeing how restrictive and downright unreliable it can be in the hands of certain companies that shall remain nameless.
On a completely unrelated note, does anyone want to buy my cytomic account? It includes the drop and the glue.

From Ingo's posts, I'm finding it exigent to have both Palm synths, so I'll be adding Wavemapper soon. The more time I spend with the 'generator, the more I get out of it, and that's what I love about great synths.
Ha ha suck it!

You know, I tend to agree with you on 'generator sounding better than Serum overall, but Nave trumps them both in that department imo. Largo is capable of better sound as well, but you have to tweak that more than the Nave to get there. In any event, each has a resolutely different sound, and Waldorf just sounds better, period.aMUSEd wrote:It's 64 bit
I think it sounds better than Serum, less flashy and less fx etc but deep editing capabilities.
Another cool experiment is to open both Largo and Serum, and go back and forth with Init, exploring the modulation capabilities of each. Such an experimentation just reinforced my happiness at owning them both, each has fascinating ways of modulating different aspects, and yes they each complement the other quite nicely. That goes for the other Waldorf and PPG as well.
Sure, it gets a bit expensive, but I am noticing more and more how much I prefer working with Wavetable synths above, say, mainly modular and FM. Working with so many really helps me get deeply educated to the working of WTs as a whole, and I find my best work comes out of such synths because I find them fascinating to begin with.
You can often just start from the ground up, a springboard toward wildly creative realms...

I mostly agree here. Over the years where i have checked lots of available wavetables synths including some hardware (and still own several wavetable synths...) i found that the "one and only" wavetable synth does not seem to exist.Apostate wrote:You know, I tend to agree with you on 'generator sounding better than Serum overall, but Nave trumps them both in that department imo. Actually in terms of features and also basic sound they could be even more different than analog emulations.
Even Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V and the newer PPG plugins while theoretically based on the work of the same developer (at least the original PPG Wave 2.x hardware synths that are emulated in PPG 3.V) could be quite different and i still love PPG Wave 3.V even if it is more simple than most other available wavetable synths.

The PPG Wave 3 has a terrific sound as well. That will be my next WT purchase after the obviously requisite Wavemapper. I have come up with great sounds using the PPG. I think it only seems limited in comparison to the crazy (in the "good" way) modulation capabilities of the Waldorfs and Serum, you can still do a lot with that synth, and for certain things it more than holds it ownIngonator wrote: I mostly agree here. I agree that there really doesn't seem to be a one stop Wavetable synth. However, I would probably make do on a desert island with either Electra, Serum, or the Wavemapper/Wavegenerator combo if I could only have one.
I had to mention Electra, which stands out in its own way with a sound I often find magnificent, and very, very good modulation capabilities imo.
However, I don't want to do without ANY of my WT instruments, thank you!

I have to check out your videos when I get a moment! To me, WaveGenerator is simply a closed book – I've never made any progress with it. Completely obtuse – maybe I should sell it an get Nave instead.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!
