According to the documentation, you can't use VST3 :
https://docs.lmms.io/user-manual/gettin ... -directory
This is where the user's VST plugins are stored. These can be either 32 or 64 bit plugins.
LMMS does not yet support VST3 plugins.

Hello Carrieres:

I just discovered what you said while reading through the LMMS and MPC Beats documentation. Neither DAW in any release supports VST3. At least not yet. :( Someday I am sure.

So Dexed is in effect useless as a plugin to these DAWs from what I am seeing.

I understand the reason for moving forward to VST3.

Do you perhaps know of an archived version of the Dexed VST that may still be usable?

Thanks again,
BC

You can use the 0.9.4 version, that has VST2, I think

Hello again.

Quick update. I have downloaded Dexed 0.9.4 and successfully added the VST to both LMMS 1.2.2 and MPC Beats (both for Windows 10).

It works pretty well on both DAWs. :)

I will copy the VST over to Linux Mint and give LMMS a try there as well as soon as the Windows 10 updates finish up.

Thank you for your help. Dexed opens up so many sounds with the CART system. :) Of course I was after the sounds used on the DX7 for JUMP. :) So catchy.

Thank you to all who maintain and produce this amazing software.

falkTX maintains Dexed lv2 and linux-vst versions in his kx-studio repository.
You could install those, and compare to the windows version in wine,
and choose based on experience, and situation.
Cheers

Maybe it's the Madonna song, or the Kris Kross song...

Madonna's song was produced in 2005. Though it was essentially a throwback to 80's synth pop, that synth part could be anything.

Kris Kross probably used a Moog sample for that high pitch sound.

You got a "Point-er" there! Considering the year that song was released, very good chance that was a DX. Sounds like it anyway...
