I've played with the speed dial, grain size, density etc...

What are some good tips to play the sample back at the correct speed?

(btw, the Retro 80s preset pack sounds very interesting!)
A granular engine will never output a clean sound (well, IRCAM granular in Falcon does, but Avenger's implementation is a little bit rudimentary). Load few granular presets from factory and then identify them in browser and preview them (the browser will play them clean). You will hear the difference.
If the same difference is what you hear between your clean loops and the ones played through granular engine, then you're doing it right.

The easyest way to import a sample is to load first a granular sound from factory library (to switch the osc in granular mode) then drag & drop any sounds in the osc window.

Thanks, got it close, but not close enough. When I drag the sample from the Files tab to the OSC, it plays back OK as a sample.
But if I do the same with the Granular OSC, it plays differently.
I tried tweaking the speed, and especially the Grain Size makes a difference, along with Rnd Pos etc. My grain size is 183. Density is right down. Speed set as 1/10 (which seems the closest to the original speed)

double click on "granular" in the left column opens an empty default granular osc to drop your own samples into it

As said, you can NOT playback a sample inside the granular engine in original quality. It will always be grained

Keeping this train rollin, here is a video going through the 8bit Era Expansion. I was actually pretty damn impressed with the level of retro authenticity, and how seamlessly it incorporated with the modern structure and potential of the synth.

I even messed around with using some of the expansion samples in some a preset from the factory presets and ended up spiraled down a nice little rabbit hole.

It's certainly much more SID focused than it is NES focused, but I was happy to see there was at least a few nods directly to the NES. In the end, I think raw ass NES sounds would not have been as well integrated with the modern vibes of the VST, so the funky and thumpin' SID beats and drums really were the better choice. You can tell there was a former Scene musician working on these presets, too. You don't just roll out of bed and put together presets like this otherwise, haha.

Take a listen and try to prove me wrong :)

Manuel, is there a way to retreive previous versions? 1.3.5 is giving me issues on an older laptop, while the version before (I think it was) was working perfectly...

Post

no, but please mail us the "issues" so we can fix it in 1.3.6

Hi,

Since i bought a new mac pro desktop 5.1 6 core High Sierra, my avenger doesn't work anymore.
Never had any problems with it, but now if i load it up in ableton it crashes right away.
Logic doesn't see the plugin in the list and fruity won't load it either.
After 30 mails with support, i got the answer it's a computer problem. But the strange thing is all of my other software just works fine. If it native instruments, serum, fab filter, sound toys etc etc, it works just fine.
So does anyone else had this problem? Maybe i need to change something to my preferences in my computer?
Right now i am thinking to sell all of my vengeance stuff, and thats a lot because i have them all.
If i cannot use it and they can't help me with it then why keep this stuff.
Hope there is some smart person here who knows the key to my problem.
Thanks
Sjoerd

Google how to see what OpenGL version your mac have.
If is 4.1 check what web drivers (ati/nvidia) are compatible with your mac and try installing them. If you have nvidia, worth installing their cuda driver also.
If your OpenGL version is 3.3, you’re f***ed.
