Ok.
I just tested the Prophet REV2, and its sync capabilities sound awesome. Such a pity Avenger has no real OSC sync, so you can program arp patterns on osc1 synced with a constant osc2...
Or then set split the two OSCs on the keyboard, so you can play both.
Any plans to add it?

Still to expensive 30 euro for 700 presets? Try uvi Darklight or Arturia, That's only 150.Julien Unison wrote:godly > This soundset is still really too expansive.

700 presets ????
My bad, I was thinking about a classic +/- 150 presets soundset...
Sorry.
So now, we need a lot more demos to hear how those presets sounds.

You cant really compare a preset bank price to Arturia.godly wrote:Still to expensive 30 euro for 700 presets? Try uvi Darklight or Arturia, That's only 150.Julien Unison wrote:godly > This soundset is still really too expansive.

Firstly Arturia CMI V comes with 960 presets.
Second it is an actual instrument, not just presets.

Also, with respect, its not the number of presets involved, it the quality of those presets. You could have 200 amazing presets that are more useful than 500 mediocre ones.jmg8 wrote:godly wrote:Still to expensive 30 euro for 700 presets? Would like to hear individual presets or songs made with these to see what quality there is.

The quality is the same as the original, so very low 8 or 16 bit. And that's what you want. I even added a the bitcrusher to some samples to make them even more low res.MasterTuner wrote:Also, with respect, its not the number of presets involved, it the quality of those presets. In comparison with UVI the advantage is that Avenger has many other tools and wonderful effects to add. IMO the presets are way more interesting this way.
There are many original presets besides hundreds of new sampled and multi presets.
Check the demos, I'm sure it won't disappoint.

I finally got around to putting together a review\breakdown video of the 16bit Era Expansion that was released earlier this year. It's very Amiga heavy, but the presets are designed in a way that makes them sound as good as Amiga can possibly sound, with as little elbow grease as possible. It has lots of Megadrive influence as well, but I really think the Amiga stuff is the stand out, which is great, because Amiga is one of the few retro consoles I have almost no experience with.
I come from a chiptune background, and I am used to having to design all this stuff from scratch. In order to get the most "regular" people to like the music, you have to work so hard to make it sound lush enough to not grate on the ears of people who do not live and breath this stuff in present day, but have nostalgia for it.
These presets have really been intelligently crafted to let you put together the thickest Amiga sounds so damn easily that it almost sounds modern again, with all the retrowave\synthwave stuff on the peripheral these days. I get the sense that the designer(s) here has a very extensive background in Amiga, because some of these presets are just unbelievably complete. Little melody flourishes everywhere they would be in an actual Amiga game, and drum beats that really do slam. SAVAGE! Coming from a chiptune background, I almost feel like I am cheating with how easily these sound good to regular listeners.

A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.

Double shot!
Dear lord! This expansion just kicked my butt thoroughly. I have been sitting on it for a few month waiting to make this video, and here and there I have been poking at it, but never diving fully in. Well today I dove in head first, and do you know hat i found underneath the waters? GOLD!
The presets are a fantastic start and almost overloaded my brain with inspiration for ideas and ways I could tweak them very easily to be completely new presets.
The overall sound and tone of this expansion is the type of synth beds you would expect to be in major blockbuster films like Elysium, Oblivion, Blade Runner (Modern), Dredd, the Raid, etc. You probably know the sound I am talking about. I was amazed at just how easy it was to achieve that sound, and how malleable Avenger allowed it to be.
While there are single key presets here, that you can just hit and take all the way home, a lot of the gold comes from manipulating the Macros or any of the modulation options. Even in my first spin on these sounds, everything was almost writing itself, even though I was the one spinning the knobs. That's the sign of a well thought out preset, for sure.
And the low end on this thing. Unreal. I've tried to make some of this low end happen from scratch before, and to be honest, I fell way short. I am not really sure how to get that Hollywood sub woofer low end sound (and don't say use a sine wave sweep, it's not that simple!). But this expansion had sounds that I have literally been trying to create before, all at a finger's touch. I felt almost like I was cheating, or seeing the man behind the curtain.
Either way, imminently useful as either a tool for composing, or a learning tool for deconstructing some of these popular sounds and creating them from scratch in the future. This pack is worth it's weight in gold, and it's pretty heavy.

I actually was agreeing with you, I also did not realize it was 700 presets. I guess the site isn't very clear about what your actually getting?
