I was able to replicate the most roland patches on arturia, the adsr envelopes are very different, but you can let sound these two synths very close, so no need for an expensive roland abo.
Also Tal - Mod can replicate a lot of jupiter 8 patches and has a bether sound quality than roland and uses much less cpu resources. I would prefer arturia, diva or Tal before signing up for roland.

Sound quality is very subjective.

To my ears Tal mod is lacking depth that Roland Cloud version has. Actually alot of vst instruments i played do miss this fundemantal element in sound, its hard to describe if you never played or worked with some hardware instruments (or rely on budget studio monitoring). Tho there are some synths that does have this kind of depth as ex Repro 5, Hive, Waves Element 2, BX_Oberhausen, Diva (to some extent) and probably few more synths that i may have forgoten.

That's a nice paraphrase for "most people's ears suck". :D

warning! you're about to enter the restricted "I am holier than thou, because I once played the original" area. please leave.

hw snobs lounge is on 25th floor. no elevator. use your analogue feet.

I think you are drawing conclusions too fast. Saying quality is subjective means you are not wrong but neither right, like a taste. And hardware = doesnt always mean better sounding. But then again its subjective.

Roland Cloud is a subscription service for $19 a month, right? Maybe if making music is my profession, I would consider it, but as a hobby I don't thinks so.

Anyway, I really have what I need from Vintage (and modern!) synths but can't control the synth greed inside me! :hihi: By the way, NI Super 8 is a nice Rolandish polyphonic synth. I might get it soon :)

I think you should lighten up. Why so serious? Yes, in Ledger's Joker voice.

It's not so much the amount, but the fact you never own anything with subs. I know we all leave this Earth pocketful of stones, but lets skip this philosophy for now. I pay for something - I own it. Not after a year or two, or ten, having seriously overpaid for something you want, but right here and now, period.

Oh, you don't have to explain. Only to that guy on 25th floor.

Because its not funny enough to not take it serious. Plus stating something that is subjective and starting laught about someone else that states something same subjective is quite disrescpectful the least and show your own insecurities and possibly you are a loser who pretends to be smarter and better then anyone else but really just living with mom or grandma, have an underpaid job, probably bad relashionship (if any at all, more like mastrubating to pornhub). Im just guessing, joking. Dont take it serious.

hmm, looks like the inhabitants of the 25th floor of a f*ck knows where tower are deeply troubled, angered and insecure.

but... that's none of my business. moving on with the day.

If comparing hardware to software would be subjective, then noone could do close emulations of the respective synths... of course one is closer than the other. Don't tell me Monark, Diva or Legend aren't closer to a Minimoog than Steinberg Model E.

That doesn't have to do with hw snobbery at all. It's simply a fact that, with today's tech - emulations can be much closer, especially with ZDF filter design, and computing virtual circuitry, and the lots of imperfections of analog. And also with the increase of experience the devs have with that kind of stuff.
