Want to try out your skills in other contests / competitions /challenges?
  • DiHalt Demoscene competitions
  • Indaba - Has a mix of popular and indie artists with various contests like remixing and song writing. Some people from OSC have had success here.
  • KVR Mix Challenge (see stickies) - Who can mix a song the best (Without adding extra recordings /musical additions)? Each person starts out with the same stems.
  • Music Cafe (KVR, see stickies) - A thematic monthly competition. Use recording, real instruments, synths and samples.
  • RemixComps - An aggregator for remix contests from a variety of artists and genres (mostly EDM) - indie and popular.
  • Soundevotion (SDCOMPO) Competition - Even longer running than the OSC, the SDCOMPO is even more niche in that you must use a tracker, and set of specific effects. Great community.

Will we be moving to a different voting system soon? I hope. 5 points is getting really tough. Especially with the month just past with all those great tracks on such a great synth. I can't split hairs anymore than I have. In fact, it's getting close to impossible to separate the 4s from the 5s now.

Yeah, I agree, but lets keep that on the general chat. Maybe after the 15th we can start a discussion. :tu:

Hey everyone

Just started playing around with HY-Mono. Some nice sounds for sure...

Any particular tips on Kick drums within the synth without relying on host automation? Finding this challenge very, er, challenging, so far :D

Cheers and Happy 2017 to you all

Thanks for replying :) I'll re-create that patch when back at my music computer, distracted with work unfortunately right now :(

Oh my!
My in most cases stable running system of Ubuntu 16.04 (32 bit)/Jack/Wine 1.6.2/Reaper 5.311/WineAsio is choking heavily on HY-Mono (32 bit) crashing Reaper every five minutes. :bang:
Advice anyone?
Greetings

Ok. I haven't done this comp for a couple of years, but here is my submission . . .

https://soundcloud.com/deadeddy/dead-eddy-nothing

Abelton Live running 12 x HY-Mono tracks & the free Sanford Reverb
Every sound set using the randomize button (presets didn't seem to work properly).

Mastered in Adobe Audition 5.5 using Audition's main Mastering + Limiter plugins.

Downloads will be enabled once I have a final version. I'd like this to be a work in progress so I've disabled downloading until closer to the deadline. I'm actually using Soundcloud comments to make notes on how to improve the track, so your (actually anybody's) notes are most welcome - along with constructive criticism. My aim was to do more of a soundscape a la Tangerine Dream / early prog-rock experimental synth.

But frankly. I don't know what I'm doing. Which I believe is fine in the OSC? :phones: :)
