Love TAL's stuff particulaly TAL-U-NO-LX ( https://tal-software.com/products/tal-u-no-lx ) and they don't ever seem to push my CPU.

+1 on Logic Pro's synths. I still use the shit out of ES2 and sculpture.

Indeed. Just yesterday i layered a "press one key" 30 arp, 40 synth, 50 FX multi patch and it is still below 30% cpu usage (al cores). Dune (original, not 2) has a good quality/CPU ratio. It's a payware synth but also has a free version (minus the effects section).
Korg M1 is another favorite low CPU synth/rompler.
