Repro-1 vs Syntronik Pro-5

I know this isn't a totally fair comparison as Repro-1 is a fully programmable synth vs Pro-5 being a more limited romper, but I'd love to compare them regardless. Repro-5 is in open beta, but since that isn't fully out yet, I just included the mono version. I want to compare sound authenticity, not feature parity. Basically, is Pro-5 a reasonable Prophet sound source, or does Repro-1 outshine it? Repro-1 can be had right now for $99, while Pro-5 is on sale for $35 as a sound source for Sampletank CS or for as low as $150 as art of Syntronik. I got it for just over $75 buying gear credits in bulk, and using jam points. There is also a hard drive cost, Syntronik Pro-5 uses 2gb or so, but Repro-1 takes more CPU cycles.
Thoughts?

CPU cycles are a total non issue for me so I guess it's Repro-1
I was not impressed with Syntronik at all, the free version anyhow.

Yeah, I wasn't terribly impressed with the free version sounds, but it is growing on me. And I definitely think Repro-1 is the superior experience, but I got Syntronik cheap and my machine didn't run even Diva as well as I would like, so I don't think I would get the best Repro experience. I also am pretty happy using Synthmaster One as a stand in for it, I reverse engineered a couple of Repro One presets and it can be a convincing Prophet emulator. So I think I am OK. I'd love to get Repro-5 when I get a new machine, whenever that may happen. I don't have immediate plans for that though, my old i7 is still a champ for the most part.ATS wrote:CPU cycles are a total non issue for me so I guess it's Repro-1

If you are considering Repro, it would be wise to jump in now. You can get it for $87 at audiodeluxe (automatic discount at checkout), as opposed to $99 from u-he. And this includes both repro-1 and repro-5. But that is going up to $149 when repro-5 is out of beta. On the other hand IK have deals all the time and you can bet there will be a bett deal some time in the future. Won't be the case with repro.
Funny enough it was the prophet-5 emulation that pushed me over the edge to buy repro, however I'm finding I like repro-1 much more! Cpu is less of an issue with the monosynth and I just like it for those kind of sounds. I like repro-5 as well, just not sure if it's worth the cpu cycles for most of the sounds for me personally.

This thread LOL! Sorry, I'll shut up now....LOL! Sorry! I'll stop laughing now. LOL!
Yes, I'm also still a fan of Repro 1, even though I don't give a shit about CPU usage.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I may have to try and pick that up. And it ran fine for me mono, so I could live with leaving Repro-5 alone for the most part. Damn it, now I may have to sell a bunch of stuff.Echoes in the Attic wrote:If you are considering Repro, it would be wise to jump in now. I'm still waiting on my code for Repro-1, so am getting static every few seconds still, but I have been playing it along side Pro-5 and there really is no comparison. I will use Pro-5 for some arpeggiations and stuff, and I frankly like its arp better than Repro-1, but for leads, hands down, Repro-1 is so much more nuanced and the filter is just sweetness and spice, where Pro-5 just kind of hints 'prophet'. Anyhow, I'm happy, the Prophet 5 was the first synth I ever wanted to play, and I'll get a lot out of it. I wouldn't be able to afford it once the price goes up, so yippee. I still need to explain the need to my wife though. Luckily she loves me.

With the open beta Repro-5, my computer uses 3-6%, usually 4-5%, I set it at 5 voices for authenticity and to lower demands on the processor. I think I can actually use this thing I'm a happy camper.

I bought into Repro-1 too and running it and Repro-5 together is bliss. Mapped so, I can tweak them both at the same time. Aahh!
Yesterday, I jammed with Repro-1 and 5 in HQ, Phonec 2 and Tremor with Echomelt 2 at the same time, no hassle for my "new" studio computer... Rock solid.
Haven't checked CPU usage, but no unwanted sound artifacts of any kind...

Yeah, I have a 3440 i& it is getting old but I don't think it is too old just yet, I'm happy. No artifacts here. And I do know how to freeze tracks still just in case.gaf_thit wrote:I bought into Repro-1 too and running it and Repro-5 together is bliss. Mapped so, I can tweak them both at the same time. Aahh!
