I think he was doing VCV rack modules and some phone apps. Viking still sounds incredible regardless.

Maybe. Maybe not. They will know the figures.generaldiomedes wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 10:44 pm not every company knows what they are doing .. and now Reason allows VST anyhow. Seems like 2 years of wasted development to me.
Note, though, that RE's have some advantages in terms of integration in the Reason rack, hence some developers will still go on developing them. Also, the way i understood it, with Spire 2, it will be easier for Reveal Sound to maintain RE and VST code, because it won't be necessary to jump through hoops to make the code work on the RE platform.

Rack extensions have zero piracy. When a company don’t know what they’re doing they go out of business. Look what happened to Sega and the Commodore.generaldiomedes wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2019 10:44 pm not every company knows what they are doing .. and now Reason allows VST anyhow. I would like to re-heat this topic with a question about velocity control in VK-1. I've just compared it with PG-8X synthesizer (also free) and the difference in responsiveness to velocity is massive. I can get a lot more control playing PG-8X compared to VK-1. I tried different destinations: Filter, Master Vol and Pitch. I thought that Pitch would be the best way to check the velocity range. In every scenario I could hardly get half of the range compared to PG-8X. It's especially noticeable in the very low velocities between 10-40.
Can someone confirm that in their setup?

I made a simple test. I created a MIDI clip with 13 notes. First note had velocity set to 10 and last one had velocity set to 127. Notes in between gradually increased in velocity. All notes had the same pitch and length. I set VK-1, PG-8X and OB-Xd synthesizers to respond to velocity. I set the modulation of LP filter to be controlled by velocity from the MIDI clip.
Filter in PG-8X and OB-Xd was almost closed when note velocity 10 was played and fully open when note velocity 127 was played. VK-1 had much smaller range. Its filter opened maybe to the 3rd of full range. Am I missing something here? I doubt that this filter behaviour was modelled on hardware. I tried different settings in VK-1 and never achieved anything better than filter opening only to the 3rd of full frequency range.

The VK1 sounds great to me. Doesnt have to model hardware. I wish it had a better skin though. The silver one is ok. And parameter locking between presets.

I totally agree about the sound. The character of VK-1 was definitely there. I deliberately used the past form, because at the moment Blamsoft's website is no longer available. They never responded to my email from first half of November 2021. Now I have a clue why. Also with Steinberg's latest announcement regarding VST2 format, I will wave goodbye to this plugin for good.

That's too bad. I always kind of hoped VK-2 would become a VST, too.

Wonder if they'll make it free for reason's rack extension?

I wonder if anybody still buy Blamsoft REs and if so where money’s going.Raddler1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:23 am Wonder if they'll make it free for reason's rack extension?

I wonder if something cool is really coming. Their site has been off and on for quite sometime. I personally enjoy Blamsoft's instruments. Easy to use...even with an ugly GUI, heh.

I googled for more information today and I came across this. It seems, Blamsoft is history....

Dissolution Date September 2019 and website was still available in November 2021. Oh well, now we are sure what's going on. Thanks for the update.Rastkovic wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:33 pm I googled for more information today and I came across this. It seems, Blamsoft is history....
