Yea Steinberg is Yamaha's Software branch. Yamaha's name is actually on some of the products. Like the Vintage Channel Strip VCM Plugins.

Instrumentwise they made the S-YXG50

They also made some other (non-instrument) plugins but that was quite a long time ago.

Maybe they didnt think the VST plugin market is for them.

I love old Yamaha romplers, a top model MU series type virtual instrument would be cool imo.

There's a few on iOS: TNR-i (and TNR-e), FM Essential and the AN2015 synth inside Synth Book.

Maybe they prefer mobile apps to desktop (like Moog).

These come to mind: https://www.steinberg.net/de/products/v ... start.html

And, yeah, seems like the logical thing that Steinberg would develop Yamaha stuff. Not sure how high it is on their agenda, though.

Because:
Since January 2005, Steinberg is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of audio hardware.

How did Yamaha go from defining a decade (the '80s) to vocaloid? How the mighty have fallen.
