OSC #115 Sept 2018 Seismic Track and FX list
Reaper 5.95/x64
14 tracks
53 total FX
13 @ PurestGain (airwindows) & ReaEQ (Cockos)
8 @ Seismic (Syntonica)
1 @ Ambient Reverb (Stone Voices), CloudSeed Algorithmic Reverb (Valdemar Erlingsson), Leet Delay 2 (Sonic Anomaly), UnBox (airwindows), midiTranspose (Insert Piz Here), JS:MIDI-triggered velocity-sensitive audio/CC flexible DADSR envelope, JS: 3-Band Splitter, JS:Apple 2-Pole Lowpass Filter, GClip (GVST), SUBSPACE (Zynaptiq), Abstract Chamber (Signaldust), TDR VOS SlickEQ (Tokyo Dawn Labs), TDR Nova (Tokyo Dawn Labs), TDR Kotelnikov (Tokyo Dawn Labs) & Unlimited (Sonic Anomaly)
Monitoring FX: JS:Oscilloscope, JS:Goniometer, SPAN(Voxengo) and ReaStream (Cockos)
Also BlueArp was used early in the project, the midi output recorded, BlueArp removed and then the midi further manipulated. So unsure if that "counts" in the FX since not technically in the final project file.

Tried wrapping my head around this synth and now it's on fire :bang:
I don't think i can even get a mod envelope going. Best of luck to those who tamed this beast.
FM bells make me happy :D

Hi friends,

Another entry :D
Really interesting synth and architecture, I will explore this more. That being said, I found it very difficult to create sounds deliberately and nevery really got my head around the envelopes and, well, all of it really! Just made some music with the sounds I came up with and a few tweaked presets. No samples.

There is cold and rainy otside, but the memories of summer and the sea stil fresh.

So, this track is another experiment. Trying to fight my lazyness and lack of inspiration while I have time to make music only on weekends. Don't ask me what is it, I don't know. Some kind of "retroish" 3/4 tune with odd arpeggios and "funky wannabe" beats. I've concieved this track to be relaxing, but the beats getting pretty energetic and driving. May be some one here knows what genre it could be?

The sound design in this track is all about the drums. I've struggled so much trying to make acoustic-like drums, so I switched to Simmons-like electronic drums. Other instruments were constructed from stock presets as a strarting point, but some of them I've made from scratch (for example the bells). An interesting fact that this track has only one side effect (my anti-record).

Siesmic itself in my opinion is a good starting point of developing an interesting instrument. I suggest to Syntonica to grab the best ideas from it and focus on developing comfortable and user friendly framework. Althrough the synth is going fro crazy sound design it lacks such basic features like transpose (it forced me to use midi transpose to make proper sounds for drums), modulation matrix (or may be dedicated modulation nodes), a "true" noise generator and list can go on and on. And perhaps the sound engine itself is not the best I heard from free VSTs, especially filters.

I have also noticed that removing modulation from reverb makes the sound a bit dull and adds some wierd resonances that is so hard to tame.

Anyway, enjoy my new track (or not, if you wish)!

Shabby little track for the sake of that strange Seismic synthesizer plugin. Surely not on par (my track, not the synth/notice the clicks as my box went into overdrive after adding several instances of S...), but I couldn't resist putting in some fragments into the game.

Its too late, I did make some nice MPE sounds in Bitwig, but had not enough time to put a worthwhile piece together...

OSC#115:Seismic
Last night I decided to have a look at this oddball of a synth and gave in to my desire to make some music again, if only a little. So this song is not quite a comeback, but brief moment of musical happiness for me. I'm pretty sure, I have little idea of what I was doing with Seismic, but enough to coax out some entertaining instruments...at least to me. 8}
