In my first PC, I had a 2.1GB Quantum ST HDD (that was a ***tty hard drive, but it was common back then, about 22 years ago).

My first Digital synth was a Korg DSS-1. I spent several hundred dollars in 1986, more than I earned in a week, to double it's RAM from 256kB to 512kB.

My first graphics workstation, in my first job as a designer, had a 1GB SCSI drive for video capture and that was just the most amazing thing anyone had ever seen. The system drive was 240MB and the pro-video card had 1MB of RAM in it. I think the PC had 64MB of RAM, yet I was able to run 3DS Max and Photoshop and actually get work done.

Some folks just need it
Clearly, I was just wondering why.
anyways you can just delete the DLL in the folder and it wount show up. :)
Which I will do once I am sure there is no reason to keep them. Again, hence the question.

That black skin is beautiful, a bit reminiscent of Dune 1 imho.
I could probably do a skin for D3 in the original DUNE style if anyone was interested. It might end up being a bit bigger than the standard but I don't think it would be too much work.
Yes that would be awesome, and if it's bigger than the old one it would be even better! :hyper:

Please do! That would be so cool.

Yeah, Rich has asked me to do it so I definitely will, as soon as I can find the time. i.e. It could be a while.

Now please VST 3 and a reasonable sound browser.
Why do you need VST3? I keep installing them and get everything showing up twice in Cubase. It's annoying and I can't see a single reason to keep both VST2 and VST3 versions. At least the VST2's open in Orion as well as Cubase.
VST2 is dead and we are no longer supported by Steinberg.

VST3 has a better performance and you have much more possibilities.

Why showing twice? You can choose if you want to install the VST2 or the VST3 version.

With me nothing is installed twice.

It's time for all manufacturers to switch to VST3.

Agree. Never had issues with vst3 and nothing shows twice (assuming you guys installed vst2 and vst3 hence synths or fxs come up twice!) just pick during installation vst3 and thats it!

Why pick VST3? Why not stick with VST2? Give me a reason to choose VST3 over VST 2, so far I am not seeing anything at all.

When has that ever mattered? All my VST 2 plugins continue to work and none of the VST 3 versions I have installed do anything better or different.

That's not true at all. DUNE 3 is DUNE 3, VST 2 or VST 3 makes no difference whatsoever.
Why showing twice? You can choose if you want to install the VST2 or the VST3 version.
If I know for a fact that there is no advantage in VST 3, which seems to be the case, I would only install the VST 2 version. For the last few months that has been the way I've been doing things, good to see that it was the right call.
It's time for all manufacturers to switch to VST3.
Why? I think a better idea would be for developers to ignore it and force Steinberg to make something that's actually, measurably better, not just different.

Even better, someone come up with a license-free, open-source, cross-platform format for plugins.

I don't have any VST3 plugins, my DAW doesn't even support them. And all my VST2 stuff plays just fine. And it probably still will 10 years from now.
