I would say that Surge qualifies, and its probably one of the best (if not THE best) in the category.

Functionally the synth is fairly complex; you get your Classic VA, Wavetable, FM, Dual Filters, RingMod, 16xUnison with StereoSpread, multi-mode Waveshaper, FX with various routing options, etc., so that aspect is definitely covered. At the same time all controls are on one single page, the only things that ever have to be switched are the oscillators (switch between Osc 1/2/3) and the 12 MultiMode-Modulators (individual dedicated switches) which can be either a LFO or a EG or a Sequencer. The way all this is set up is very smart too, because the Modulator switches simultaneously act as modulation-destination selectors. Just click the currently highlighted modulator button a second time and all sliders that can be targets will get highlighted in blue. Now set the modulation slider(s) of the desired target(s) to the desired amount, done. The cool thing is that the modulation sliders will then also remain relative to the regular slider(s), i.e. when you move one up or down the modulation(s) assigned to it will always follow automatically.

Personally i dont see how this could be done any better, (only different), so IMO Surge is doubtlessly one of the best choices in the category. Its also free and open source since a couple of weeks, so you dont even have to pay for it anymore. Surge also has excellent sound quality and a high degree of versatility, (the wavetables alone make sure of that), so if you want all that in a single-page UI then Surge is definitely the right candidate.

Where? I see old Hive is actually on sale, and I thought u-he didn't do sales.

Personally not interested as EDM isn't my thing.

He means Hive 1.2. And it is on sale indeed (which is great, hope u-he will do it more often. It's very beneficial for both sides).

It's been revamped. Wavetables, Vectoring, and I think improved audio quality.

But yeah, we added wavetable support without making Hive any more difficult to use.

Maybe the Xils 4 ? I've never seen as much controls on a panel synth iirc.( Given the -zoomable- pin matrixes allow you to see up to 1100 connections + mod intensity per patch)

it got sold minutes before the update posted ... literally! ha. all good, it went to a guy that is going to get a lot of use out of it, and i felt good about it. after buying dune 3 and having waited on the update to drop for a while, i just decided i needed a clean break for the sake of creativity. i'd been riding hive for years. i use the modulars still and am seriously considering repro after making the mistake of actually demoing it.

can't own them all!

Hive is awesome. a true modern powersynth built for today's computer environment.
