I wonder if the arp can finally tie from one note to another now to create a glide. You not call an arp advanced if it can not do this basic function that soft synth arps have been doing for over 15 years.

Yeah that could be worth it. I wonder if all the cable connections create the equivalent modulations in Omni? I never foudn out how they could send midi signals. I sold one a couple years back. Although I love the MS-20, I don't think the Korg MS-20 vst is a very good emulation. So I wasn't using it. Could be fun with Omni though. However Omni doesn't really have filters that can act much like the MS-20.noiseboyuk wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 8:19 pm And the second I saw...

I'm curious what functions are covered with the Virus TI. It would be awesome if the graintable osc could control the Omni granular like they did with the Prophet XS. I'd almost be tempted to get a Virus TI. I already love the sound and if it was a pretty powerful Omnisphere controller like the Prophet XS, that would rock.

I did a little digging on the patch cable thing, and I don't really get how it works either. It has no CC assigned, and all I read is that it's a simple short between the two jacks. However, clearly it can transmit this info somehow over USB, or it wouldn't work in their own plugin (it does so very nicely). It's lower tech than a midi CC somehow, not higher... hoping that Spectrasonics figured out how they do it, and then follow the mapping.Echoes in the Attic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 6:14 amYeah that could be worth it. Interesting he said the "D50 sounds are in Omnisphere now" - I wonder if that means the full D50 sample set is in there?

That looks amazing. I'm happy to see Deepmind 12 in the hardware profile. I've been eyeing that one for a while now. I feel like every time I use omnisphere I discover something new. This update looks to be amazing.

I'd be amazed if it was all of it, but holding out hope that they got some more of those short samples, as there's only a handful at the moment. Actually I don't want the 1:1 presets so much - in general they're a fabulous nostalgia-wallow but not always that useful in anger. New stuff a-la D-50 from Eric but moved on would be terrific.
BTW, part of me thinks this is a motivation behind Hardware Integration. Spectrasonics can say to the various companies that they're boosting their own hardware sales, so the companies involved might be more likely to grant them licenses for some of the samples. A different paradigm from the usual.

The arp does look good. Seems like the only thing missing is a way to store and instantly recall several arp setting for the patch. This has always been the drawback for arps built-in to a synth. You only get the one pattern. It's great that you can pull out the arp pattern to your daw, which will make it a great composing tool, but that doesn't help for real-time performance. If they just had for example a selector that chose between 8 different arp patterns, which was automatable and midi assignable that would be great. This is something that's great about using a separate arp plugin, like in bitwig where you can have several arp patterns and switch between them for a given patch in real-time. Too bad they don't have this ability in Omnisphere. But at least it can do slides now. Only took them about 10 years!

I'm also a bit disappointed they haven't done any hardware profiles for midi controls like the Novation SL and others. This would undoubtedly be more useful to people.

I think the main difficulty there is that with hardware integration the MIDI CCs and channels are hardwired for the most part so the map itself is prebuilt. With a hardware controller any knob could have any channel/CC etc..Echoes in the Attic wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 5:01 pm I'm also a bit disappointed they haven't done any hardware profiles for midi controls like the Novation SL and others. But, I'd like that integration as well.
Until they add relative or takeover mode, it's still a non-starter in my book though.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

I get that more as "control Omnisphere with your PG1000 programmer and make it sound like a D50".
I would imagine that Eric Persing recreated Fantasia, Soundtrack, Digital Native Dance... sound-alike patches with Omnisphere's soundsources and synthesis.
