My track for OSC122
Surge is an amazing synth that I only scratched the surface of. Thanks to the dev and all those helping make it available open source, very cool project!
https://soundcloud.com/zarf/zarf-flying-underwater
29 Surges in Ableton Live
~25 EQ8
~15 Compressors
Handfull of reverbs and delays
Bunch of utilities (gain automation, stereo width)
OTT*3
toTape
LoudMax
Good Luck everyone, enjoy the music

Well, I've got nothing... just this little test I did today:
https://soundcloud.com/taronium/taron-surgical
8 instances, no effects, DAW:MuLab
Surge deserves far more, but I don't have time nor equipment, except pure keys...but well. Still, thought I put this piece into the mix...

What an incredible synth Surge is. Thanks for keeping it alive you guys!
I'm sure Surge will have a place in my future productions. So much fun to play around with and so many possibilities.
Here's my entry. I would have loved to spend much more time on composition, mix and all the little details but time is always an issue, so here you go and I hope some of you will enjoy it.
Good luck to everyone

Sad to hear that bro! Amazing how you can share something so personal so easily (slightly envious). I claim up entirely to such things.
Was wondering what you've been up to lately, figured you'd be tearing up the clubs making a name for yourself
If you ain't, get off yer ass bro life is short afterall, and what better way to spend than chasing our dreams

My entry is complete, I ended up crunching at the end again
Surge is in incredibly capable synth with a lot of interesting ways to make sounds!
I didn't end up using many 3rd party effects since Surge has a lot built in.
I had a lot of fun making this, that's all that matters (right?)
https://soundcloud.com/ranoka/ranoka-th ... ous-depths
FL Studio 20.1.2 64bit - Windows 10
41 instances of Surge - all sounds made from init. A lot of FM2 & FM3, no sample based Wavetables used.
- FL Native:
Fuity Balance x10 (for volume automation)
Fruity Delay 3 x1
Fruity Limiter x1
Maximus x1
Fruity Parametric EQ 2 x1
- Visualisers:
SPAN
Youlean Loudness Meter 2
Wave Candy
Good luck everyone,
Time for bed!

This is what happens when you finish sound design, writing, mixing and mastering in one stupid session at the last minute (which I do not recommend!)..... Surge was a lot of fun. 30 Instances. All sounds from init except for one track (big stabby chord at section change). Logic Pro X EQ's, reverbs, compressors. Limiter No6. No OTT this month.

Here's my submission, completed at the last second. Had to start completely over on the 21st and sprint the rest of the way. I spent the first half of the month totally frustrated by Surge, and the last ten days thoroughly impressed. Had high hopes of not using any external effects, but just never got a feel for the built-in effects.
Details:
21 instances of Surge.
ReaQ x 19
TAL 2 Reverb x 15
Transpire x 3
ReaComp x 1
Mequalizer x 1 (master)
Span x 1 (master)
Limiter No. 6 x 5 (including one on the master)

I'm out of time, and not a moment too soon.
https://soundcloud.com/anotherbenjamin/ ... d-alleluia
my entry for the Surge OSC.
Feel free to dump this in the '1' category, it's more of a failure-of-concept than a polished song...
Made in REAPER 5.975
Uses 154 instances of Surge, 140 JS MIDI Note Holds, 8 airwindows bitshiftgain, and 0 airwindows Surge.
And a BUNCH of automation.
About (kind of important):
The way I went about this track is worth noting, especially because it's a grey area in the OSC rules and also it really didn't work as expected.
What I did was I set up a "voice," with one main instance, a sub-oscillator. The main instance used a vocoder. I set up 20 supporting instances, each with a sine tuned to the vocoder band. Through volume automation of these 20 I can control the vocoder.
Here's where things get questionable: I sent an audio signal to each of the 20 and filtered it down to the corresponding band. This way I got the spectral data of the audio aligned with the spectral output of my vocoder. By linking the volume of the audio band to the volume of the output for each band and recording the automation, I effectively encoded the spectral data such that I could remove the source audio entirely. Combine that with MIDI note following for the master instances, I created this as a proof-of-concept:
https://soundcloud.com/anotherbenjamin/ ... ss/s-nkBKd (this is NOT my entry)
No audio is played into that render, and that's 100% Surge.
but then things got hairy when I tried to hold 7 of these "voices" at once. REAPER and my processor couldn't take the strain, so it ended up sounding jittery and step-sequenced.
Regardless, I wanted to finish what I started, so I took it and rendered it anyway.
I'll post the files sometime in the next week so you can see the end result.
The question here is: how legal is this? it's just automation of the synth. But the automation comes from an audio source. I could just as well draw all of that in, but I didn't.

Great synth design, but possibly due to using a beta I had to reload the project several times when it crashed, to get the patches to reload properly.
I'll have to catch up on the thread.
Twice as much stuff as usual since I put a couple projects together without cleaning it up as much as usual. Are there enough limiters? Maybe I should've had one for each instance.
Notice how clean the Reaper fx project bay window is now. Must've missed the patch note, or a miracle happened. Gotta love those awesome guys at Reaper.
Hope you all had an overall great time with this very capable instrument.

Hi everyone, here's my entry:
https://soundcloud.com/richard-semper/two-surges
Made in mulab with just 2 instances of Surge, and only a limiter on the master bus.
One instance for all the melodic sounds, and one for percussion and the bass.
Here is a link to the patches (plus a few others)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/47cvuvo2vtsq4 ... s.zip?dl=0
And the mulab project file is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mu4k9gffvb0i ... e.zip?dl=0
Surge is a pretty awesome synth, and i made quite a few patches, but of course only two got included in this track. Thanks to all those involved in the synth's development
