Totally agree. Didn’t mention it because of the price, but totally worth it.

You get all the Logic plug-ins with Mainstage as well which is a bargain for what it delivers. But those plug-ins don‘t work in other hosts, you would need to route audio somehow...

Great to see there's still do much interest in the mellotron sound.
I created the presets in a rather creative way.
Can you guys give your opinions on the sound?

I might be wrong but I think the cheapest is eTron by Sono Elements: https://www.sonoelements.com/2018/08/etron.html
Never tried it so I don't know if it's any good. There's also a "Pro" version for 10$ more: https://www.sonoelements.com/2019/04/etron-pro.html

The cheapest would be a free sample pack. The Mellotron is the easiest of all instruments to sample. There isn‘t much to model around. It was the first sampler. Though each sample set would sound different, as the original was such an unreliable machine, any of them would be authentic...
I would always prefer it as a sound set in whatever sample playback instrument you have...

I own Mac and have been using the Mellotron included in V Collection. Really enjoying it!

Links here to the free "Taijiguy" samples, and some of those have links to sfz, GIGA and other format banks using these

Not Mac per se, but it might be worth integrating an iPad to use Mellotronics and route it to your Mac. It's the real deal and pretty inexpensive:
