FWIW i got both the Arturia ARP 2600 V3 and TimewARP2600 here.

I had not used TimewARP2600 for a while but used an installer from 2017 (version 1.6) and the challenge/response authorizaion still seems to work properly. Got an automatic e-mail with the response code a few seconds after filling out the corresponding form at the Way Out Ware website.

Both plugins might sound exactly like the real thing but both seem to be quite nice. Sound wise TimewARP 2600 might be a bit better but that is just my opinion. What is sure that TimewARP 2600 could produce a seriously big low end which is lacking i many other softsynths. I just checked that again.

While the feature set of TimewARP 2600 is closer to the real thing the Arturia plugin has a bunch of advanced/additional features.

I have a question here.
Analog and Hardware are not some magic states where everything is good. There is such a thing as bad analog.

In order to make a hardware clone at a fraction of the cost of the original, one has to cut (lots of) corners. This will definitely have an impact on the sound. There is no way around it.

On the other hand isn't it more probable a software clone to approximate the sound of the original more successfully if the developer has sufficient talent and knowledge? Or CPUs are still not offering the necessary performance?

Couple of things: Behringer is a very big company manufacturing in China. The physical interfaces of their hardware is surely not on par with the original designs from the companies which originally manufactured those synths. The process of manufacturing those hardware synths is much more automatized now than it was back in the days.

All things relevant to keeping the price lower. If you're sceptical about the quality of their hardware, check reviews, and watch some videos. IMO, Behringer is doing a mighty good job with most of their hardware clones.

+1
me too. Judging by ARP Odyssey, then the Korg one would be great. The problem is the CPU usage!

I like Artutia's one, but I don't think it is accurate especially the extreme filter range. It has the feel however, and it is inviting to play with :)

2600 is more than likely on Korg's radar.

As for CS80 - I don't see the point. The whole thing about a CS80 was the playing nuances and the hands-on stuff it gave that no other synth gave. I'd rather have a CS60 or even lower, but done properly. Doing a s/w CS80 just seems a bit like doing it for the sake of nostalgia - I certainly wouldn't buy one no matter who coded it.

The BARP (Behringer ARP) is afaik a cooperation between behringer and ARSynth, a little company specialized in analog. You can check out the videos on youtube and see yourself if it's "bad analog" or not.
May be - if we want th change the perspective - we learn through behringer that other analog synths are pretty much overpriced?

There's plenty of people who would argue with that. Or would say that even bad analog is better than the best digital thing :)

I would say that some components from old synths are not even available anymore so it's impossible to make 1:1 replica no matter what (I'm not talking here about ARP specifically).

But who cares about the inside when in the outside it looks like the original hardware and is guaranteed by the producer to be a genuine clone? Every marketing is based on honesty after all and no one has ever been deceived by the nice look of the product

My vote/wish would be on U-he although I doubt that they're interested in making one

I find the Behringer 2600 super fat sounding, from what I've heard so far in sound demos.

Not saying these are the best or even full emulations. Or even supporting 64-bit.
But hey, they're pretty decent and free...

And here's the new 2600 modules for Voltage Modular. Haven't tested it myself:

$29 not bad for the 2600 module and the Juno-106 module.

u-he Bazille or NI Massive X ?

They aren't the 2600 emulation experience but you get the semi-modular design with the possibilities of current software technologies.

I'd like to see accurate arp 2600 modules for Reaktor Blocks. Already with the Moog and stock modules I think it is a pretty good alternative.

The Voltage Modular thing is pretty good I thought, cant really comment on authenticity.
Not sure I will buy it, VM is much better now for working with Eurorack imo, still I am
not super into spending money on it. The AMSynths stuff seems very good as well, probably
I'd rather have that stuff than the barp myself.

The TTSH is one I've considered as well.
