"Not compatible with TRS-80 computer systems"

Well that's a bummer...

But seriously, thanks! Sounds good and it's a lot of fun to use :) . I'm sure I will find a place for it in a track sometime.

Hee, the first synth I ever played with was an MG-1, a friend at schools dad had one (mid 80s). Can't claim to remember how it sounded exactly but this seems to capture the spirit of it for sure, thanks. Would be cool to be able to hide the keyboard if that's an option.. :)

Wow... just... wow... The MG1 was the first synth I used. Long story... I was around 15. The manager of the local Radio Shack let me do whatever I wanted as long as I didn't break anything. So I played a lot with the demo MG1, cassette decks, the radio shack drum machine and reverb, mixer... etc. These were the first things I ever did with synth sand recording... Here it is... lol c 1982

You recorded that in a Radio Shack?
That is really cool. Sounds pretty good too.
I’m sensing a pretty heavy Another Green World era Eno influence.

is there any way to use this with a non internet connected computer ?
Man is least himself when he talks in the first person. Give him a mask, and he'll show you his true face

Yes. In a Radio Shack. The manager was amazing! My friend and I started hanging out there in the late 70s playing with the TRS80. The manager let us spend as much time as we wanted. He actually also paid us to help him do store inventory! My friend was hogging the TRS80 so I started playing with the music and audio equipment. I recorded that to cassette and did some over-dubbing from deck to deck. Keep in mind I was 15/16 years old.

And yes, I was heavily into Eno then! Good ear! :phones:

I can hear that, that tracks pretty cool (big AGW fan here) whatever the equipment/year, nice work.

Now you're challenge is to recreate it using just recently released freebies. :)

Cherry Audio is pleased to announce the release of Surrealistic MG-1 Plus 1.0.12 / Build 60. Surrealistic MG-1 Plus 1.0.12 fixes some compatibility issues with FL Studio and Pro Tools that caused issues for some users, and we've re-engineered Surrealistic MG-1 Plus's DSP to operate at the host's native sample rate, eliminating all resampling for improved performance and sound quality.

The new Surrealistic MG-1 Plus 1.0.12 update will automatically download the next time you run MG-1 Plus (unless you've disabled automatic updating). Or, you can download the update immediately at https://cherryaudio.com/instruments/sur ... s/download

The complete change list for Surrealistic MG-1 Plus 1.0.12 / Build 60 is available here: https://cherryaudio.com/instruments/sur ... on-history

So, this synth is fantastic at what it does! I'm sitting here next to a real one, ran them both through my 96k interface, into Yamaha HS80 monitors, and the sound is 98% identical. Given that the live MG-1 quality and sound can change around 7% depending on the day of the week, and current sunspot activity, 98% more than covers it.

Not a complaint AT ALL on a wonderful free synth recreation, but I noted a SLIGHT drop on the highest of the high end, which was easily fixed with a skosh of EQ. When looking at the spectrum, the high end dropped off around the 14-15k area with a sharp drop strait down. That is completely pointless to bring up when it comes to music, so it is just a noted curiosity to me.

Is there a setting I have wrong? the real MG-1, and other VSTi keep the roll off slope going all the way out to 20k
