Hey there!
I wasn't planning on submitting this round, but then I started playing around with zrythm's alpha release and kairatune via carla bridge. And with a lot of patience and several bug reports later I think the result is worth submitting. Hope you'll enjoy this easy listening retro pop piece. :phones:
So here goes nothing:

Used software (all FOSS but the synth):
-DAW zrythm alpha14.1.2 running on Archlinux
-Carla 2.3.0-RC2 for bridging kairatune (17x)

-LSP Parametric Stereo/MidSide EQ
-Airwindows ToTape5
-Airwindows TapeFat
-LSP Sidechain Compressor
-Calf Vintage Delay
-Dragonfly Hall Reverb
-x42 Compressor
-TAP tubewarmth
-LSP Gate

Master Bus Processing:
-LSP Parametric EQ
-LSP Multiband Compressor
-LSP Limiter
-Calf Limiter

My entry so far, critics to the mix are welcome.

Not much love for the sound of this synth, so I developed harmony and melody.

55 * Kairatunes:
48 for piano
2 for strings
2 for guitars(?)
1 for drum
2 for synths

Made in Abeton Live + Ableton Reverb, Delay, Compressors, Equalizers.
"Max 1" freeware on master.

I'm genuinely stoked about this. One of my favorite contests from many years ago. :-D
I glanced at the first contest yesterday, and was surprised to discover, of all things, a cyberhalling! Man, there's a long way from Hallingdal to Houston!
I have Nordic ancestry, that's the closest thing I have to being from Hallingdal, but that old norse tune called out to me. Back then re-interpretations of public domain (folk) music was legal, not sure what the rule on it would be today...

Hey all, missed the last couple and got the itch to do this one. Ended up finding Kairatune's pitch modulation section pretty helpful for making interesting sounds, though I ended up exploring more harmonic and melodic ideas rather than sound design.

DAW: Ableton Live Suite 11.
Instances: Kairatune: 29; Reverb: 16; Utility: 12; EQ8: 12; Autofilter: 9; Compressor: 7; Drum buss: 3; OTT: 2; Glue compressor: 2; Autopan: 1; Limiter: 1; Voxengo SPAN: 1

Maybe I should start using sends...

Here's my effort for this month, inspired by Diblo Dibala and Kanda Bongo Man, who are otherwise entirely blameless. ... double-tap

I made heavy use of Ableton Live's instrument racks to layer instances of Kairatune.

Production notes:
Total instances of Kairatune - 35
and a ton of Ableton effects.

Reeses - two x4
plus Note Length, Device Randomiser on each instance, Saturator, Mulitband Dynamics, Compressor, EQ8.

Pads two x4
plus Device Randomiser on each, Pitch to create chords, Valhalla Supermassive, EQ8, Glue Compressor, Limiter, MaxGainStereo

Guitar lead x1
plus EQ8, Saturator, Echo and Delay

Arps x 3
plus 2x Note Length, LFO
and Probability Arp

FX x 2

Drums and percussion:
Kick x 1
- EQ8, Limiter, plus a parallel chain with Erosion, Compressor, EQ8
Snare - two x 4
- both with Erosion, EQ8, plus a parallel chain with Erosion, Reverb, Comp, EQ8, Limiter
- EQ8, Erosion
- EQ8, Gate, Glue Compressor, Limiter,
Perc x 2
- EQ8, Glue Compressor, Limiter

Valhalla Supermassive

EQ8, Compressor, Limiter, Youlean

Lufs is -13.2

Here is my submission.

This synth has been a nice educational experience. It's surprising to discover how much timbral variety you can get from changing the strength of the fundamental, and the drive. Mucking about produced something sounding a bit flutey, and soon something pizzicato-stringy, so I started trying to make an orchestral piece like Fauré's Pavane, with its flute melody over a string rhythm. The pizzicato strings caused a lot of grief. Some realism had to be sacrificed for a sound that goes well with the music.

Admittedly the reverb ended up being pretty crucial to getting an OK sound.

Hey guys,
here my submission for this one.
I think it was quite challenging again, probably not that tough as RAND, but monophonic synths always need some extra effort ... :phew:
The sound is quite good, but the handling was a little tricky. :ud: ... airas-tune

18 instances in Cubase Elements. The sounds are made from "init" or are heavily edited presets.

free ext. FX:
TDR Nova
Valhalla Supermassive
Limiter No. 6

Enjoy and good luck to all :tu:

I decided this is not a synth for me. I couldn't come up with anything worthwhile, not even while messing around with BlueARP. The only thing I liked was some 303-like sound, so that is what you get. For snares and hihats I relied on presets posted by @JazJazgot here viewtopic.php?p=8046569#p8046569, which I modified for my purpose.

My submission:
One Trick Pony ... trick-pony

14 instances of Kairatunes

DAW: Reaper 6.25

Cockos - ReaComp, ReaEQ
Xfer - OTT
Sonic Anomaly - Transpire
Dead Duck - DD Limiter

Dead Duck - DD Delay, DD Reverb, DD Gate
We Love Walter - Sabrina

Master Bus:
Tbt - TLs-1295-LEA
Tokyo Dawn - TDR Nova
Dead Duck - DD Limiter

Pizzicato and reverb always go well together. See the iconic Faithless sound...

I updated the mix of my track, as per z' suggestions. Thanks mate. I hope I didn't make it worst, instead.

Didn't think I was going to find time to enter this month, so was a bit last minute and rushed, but here's my effort ... n-trillian

The first OSC I ever entered was also with Kairatune (9 years ago!), and it's a synth I struggle to get sounds I like from. So again, have tried to embrace its strengths (trills?) and quirks.

Recorded in REAPER with
19 instances of Kairatune, 2x Valhalla Supermassive, TDR Kotelnikov, lots of ReaEQ, a few ReaComp, also used some REAPER JS effects: tilt eq, tremolo, ping pong pan, midi arp, master limiter
