tbh, if i was using reason, id stick with its synths, and add gforce mtron.
as im not sure reason has that covered, synths it does. (imo)

I don't have the M-Tron so didn't want to reccomend it. I noticed its half price atm which has got me interested.

Aside from that my favorite direct emulation is ImpOSCar. Has been for ages. I never even went to v2. It's solid as a rock and sounds great. A close second is minimonsta. It's good enough for me not to have ever missed having a mini and it has all the melohman patch morphing and per parameter modulation (either envelope or LFO). I was never a huge fan of the mini and this was the first fully morphable and infinitely modulatable synth I ever got my hands on. I'm very surprised the EDM crowd aren't bigger into minimonsta since it can do so much wacky stuff at such a low cpu hit while still sounding great. I got lots of jobs when the "dubstep" thing got huge back when doing sound design for producers and all of it was minimonsta into Ohmicide. I still use it for rhythmic beds and such in scoring. The actual sound components aren't that exciting, but they're just good enough to have a bit of character.
I guess I would say any Gforce emu would be the best option, and then grabbing the Arturo's bundle on sale would be second place (I haven't kept mine up to date, but they are fun enough to keep things switched up).

Oh. That guy's free roland polysynth emulation, pg8x is a great emulation too. Very nice sounding and a pretty simple architecture.

I got it at JRR (£10 less than on the GForce site) then spent the last 4 hours downloading the library content ... too tired to install it all tonight

I can vouch for The Legend, and the Arturia V Collection. Great stuff. But then, it’s pretty subjective.

Try demos, check out videos/audio, have fun.

Thanks fellas, I will check them out. As said in the OP, Arturia stuff ain't for me, and unfortunately not DIVA either, but the world is open from that point. I am not into buying them all either, just one of the best of them that suits my tastes. It is not like I want specific emulations and precision, just one that provides me the analog basics as authentically as can be. There are some jobs (especiallly synth bass), where I hope I can find a good emulation instead of replacing a VA with a hardware analog in the end. It is an extra job due to me being picky about those basses. ACE, Tyrell6 and TAL-Noisemaker already go far for my needs, but I'd love to go just a little bit further with an even better emulation. Kind of luxury wish for the synths mentioned already work for all practical purposes but I am just so picky with the basses. But thanks again. I have a few to try out yet.
