Proclethya versus Knifonium (or other "tube" style synth) ?

I'm interested in Knifonium and was poking around on KVR and it seems like some people prefer Proclethya over it. I really want to try a synth based on this technology. Proclethya's line is "No samples, no wavetables, only pure fundamental synthesis..." sounds intriguing.

So my question are:

For those of you who use both, which do you prefer? I'm going for more non-conventional sounds

Is there another synth similar to these that you prefer overall?

Thank you!

Greg

Where have they been talking about Proclethya ? This is the first time i've heard of it , and im normally pretty regular here. Not the most observant but I own Knifonium and I do like that synth a lot, for its gritty nasty sound .

Quick look at this , seems pretty standard to me. Nice audio demo's in all fairness, great pricing, I might pick it up soon.

I asked if there was any fans of it a week or so ago, I got it in that giveaway in the summer.

I really like it, something organic about its sound, certainly dirties up but in a warm way not too harsh. I don't have knifonium but have vacuum pro which I always thought was rather similar. I prefer proclethya to vacuum pro now for most things, that warm fuzzy bass etc.

Or venereal.

Never heard of it, but a quick Google and there is a demo version, so you can try both yourself

Their website is crap tho, not optimised for mobile so can't read half of it

I have to thank you! I picked it up when it was free in July, but completely forgot about it.

Vacuum might be a bit similar and can be picked up for >$10 pretty frequently.

In my native language (Russian) "Proclethia" is consonant to "damnations".

Yeh, it's WIndows only and I'm on Mac though they did suggest a mac version is coming.

Indeed, now that you said that!

To me it sounded like some Greek or Latin word, bringing up associations with some bacteria species. Proclethiosis.

The demo songs sound great tho.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

How was it free ? A giveaway through a site or something ?

I haven't said that this synth is bad. And the price is very tempting.

But I hardly could use it. Because of my associations.

They gave it away themselves for a week or so in July.

(FTR I find BPB one of the best sites for keeping up on freebies etc)

I think they also offered it for half price last time they updated it, maybe they'll make a habit of it.
