I had no idea he/she had an account here. I'll PM them tonight!toitoi wrote:you can ask him http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/profile.p ... le&u=13407

I have seen that other thread and should have thought to post a link here since it's relevant. Thanks! I'll probably use those rips for referencing. Maybe I'll load VOPM on my Windows box and my music workstation on another so I can just eyeball it.
Isn't FM8's featureset a superset of what a 4 op is capable of? Or is there more to it than that?george wrote:I thought he was Win/Mac. FM8 provides extended architecture and it's not the same as a classic 4 operator FM.

Maybe this new Plugwire http://diaphone.blogspot.ru/2010/12/11.html could help you.

A bit complex if you only want to design some sounds.toitoi wrote:Maybe this new Plugwire http://diaphone.blogspot.ru/2010/12/11.html could help you.
I'm using Crossover with Reaper. Works perfectly, and can load VSTs pretty well. I to set Wine to emulate a 1280x800 virtual desktop because some VST GUIs don't like behaving on normal environment.

You can certainly recreate 4-op sounds on a 6-op synth. You would probably have to adjust the envelope settings and operator output levels by ear, but if you have the 4-op instrument handy to do a comparison, it shouldn't be too difficult. It might be time-consuming, though. Yamaha's 4-op synths don't have as many envelope paramaters as the 6-op ones, and FM8 has even more parameters than either of those.SFtheWolf wrote:I had no idea he/she had an account here. You may want to check out the demo of this: http://fm-alive.com/pages/DXM3.aspx. It now has support for 4-op synths, and can save in DX7 format, so you may be able to use it to convert 4-op to 6-op, then import that into FM8. I'm interested in its ability to save in SY77 format, as well as the standard DX7 format.

This looks promising. Especially if the VOPM conversion works. I'll check it out tonight.toitoi wrote:Fm formats converter DXconvert/TXconvert 2.0.0
