Hi Friends and fellow KVrers

Can anyone help me to recreate the synth sounds used in Silver Pizzoli around my dream for the 80's tribute band I am playing in. I will be using vsts for this song.

I have tried to google to find out what hardware synths he used to use that as a starting referance point. All I could find was that he used an Elka Synthex on some of his songs and not specifically on Around my Dreams.
Please help if you can :help:

Anyone able to give me some pointers? :phones:

Anyone?

The sound in the beginning (0:06) could be an analog synth maybe, the rest sounds like 80's rompler (M1) to me.

Thanks Chris.. I will go through my M1 sounds and check.. I think that the bass might have been a Roland Juno

Anyway thanks for the pointer!

They're all just really simple sounds with tons and tons of chorus applied.

The 'other' bass at 0.51 is that famous DX7 bass patch.

You won't find any M1 sounds in this song, or any D50 sounds for that matter. The song was released in the early 80s long before the M1 and D50.

I can hear analogue sounds, of the kind that most good VAs can approximate. Notice how reverb is used too. A lot of the sounds have a very obvious 'live' room reverb, and this adds a very specific sheen to certain sounds.

By the way, this song takes me back...I used to play it at our school discos in the mid 80s. I love Italo Disco! :D

I am also an italo disco fan!!

I play in an 80's tribute band and this song came up and me being the Synthesist or Keyboard player landed squarely on my shoulders to find the correct sounds and play the correct riffs accordingly! So thats my mission...

What soft synths do you have?

That's all overkill. Try Synth-1 plus a lush chorus...

Lol I am sure you are correct Bertkoor... now to learn how to make the appropiate presets for what I am doing... well thats a differant Science and art

Ok I official give up on this one now and accept that no one here really knows either what the synths and sounds were. Any way thanks for those who replied.

Kind Regards

The question is: should we give you a fish, or teach you how to fish?

Because I'm sure that the sounds you're after are rather simple to create, once you have the basic knowledge of how to steer a VCO-VCF-VCA synth into the direction you want it to go. Not to mention, there must be some presets that are already pretty close.
