Hi all,
I'm looking for the synth (or sampler) which had the following sounds :

The choir sound in the beginning of this 90's Bonzai track:

A very similar sound in the beginning of this one (also a 90's Bonzai Records track):

And a third example at the start of this one:

Some have pointed me in the direction of old Roland samplers like an S-550 or S330, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this.
Thanks for any feedback!

Hi, maybe it is a sound of the Korg M1 , card1 patch 23 choir. But it was also on a lot of sample/sound diskettes from the Roland w30/s330/s550 or Akai s1000. Sampling was the bomb at that time.

Immediately reminded me of a really old sampler....like an EMU Emulator

I have not tried this one myself (I'm more into synthesizers)...but you could try this recent en FREE Emulator emulator ;-)

Sounds like either Korg M1 (M1 Legacy is good) or an Emu Proteus (Proteus VX is free).
I got a choir like this out of SQ8L using the voice waveform.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Samples/sounds from ye olde samplers like the Fairchild CMI and EMU Emulator found their way into many ROMplers. As did "samples" from the Mellotron which in effect is an analog "sample" player (using prerecorded tape loops).

I got a reply from one of the producers of the first track "Introspective - Land of the Rising Sun", apparently he used a Korg M1 + a Roland D-50, layered together.. The M1 was perhaps quite obvious but I don't hear a D-50 in there.. And it sounds as if they sampled the synths in a W-30 or S-330, due to the gritty nature of the sound 8)
