Hi. I'm trying to create an atmospheric/ambient style techno album and I am and one of my influences will be "G-spot" by Speedy-J, and I'm wondering what synthesizers would be most appropriate. They could be real (physical) synthesizers, or VSTs- any synth is fine.
Here are few examples for reference:

https://a.uguu.se/EAHXzGdu.mp3
https://a.uguu.se/EPnfLXXO.mp3
https://a.uguu.se/BdUeTLMk.mp3
Also, when I say synths I'm referring to the digital sounding synths used. It's pretty obvious he used a TB-303 and a drum machine.
Thanks in advance.
Also, if you haven't heard the whole album already, you should. I think it's very good

notably, basically everything out.
You can find videos of his studio from this time. What I remember...
Sherman Filterbanks, Akai rack samplers, Ensoniq Mirage, Arp 2600, System 100, Waldorf Microwave, Nord Lead, EMS Synthi, Mac OS9 software, tape stuff. The track title "The FUN Equations" is also the name of a chapter in the Kurzweil K2000 user manual.
Also, the Roland Alpha Juno sounds show up too; the Synrise and String Sweep presets.
I'm more a fan of Ginger, but G-Spot and the live disc are my favs. Wish Speedy J would make another record. Loudboxer was important, but thats almost 20 years old now!

I don't know why, or if it's just me, but the links in your post don't seem to work. So I googled it, cool album. There is only one instrument that I know of that is the perfect fit and that is Omnisphere 2 by Spectrasonics. It's a total beast and has everything from the haunting atmospheres, to the shimmering percussion, bass sounds and all the rest. Not cheap perhaps, but for that style of music, it's basically perfect.

Serum would be my suggestion, clean oscillators and nice MG style filters.

Notice: It seems Soundcloud doesn't like this kind of resonance filter sweeps. 16bit/48kHz WAV, -3dB headroom, but still some artefacts in the high frequencies.

Given some time to think about this, I'd recommend...tmelram wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 3:30 am Hi. Software? Waldorf Largo, DiscoDSP Discovery, Audiorealism ReDominator (for that alpha juno action), Korg M1, Korg Wavestation.
Hardware? Waldorf Blofeld, Mutable Ambika (with the SMR4 filters), Roland JDXI.

If you use Google and search for speedy+j+kurzweil, you got a lot of hits.
I can only guess, but it's quite possible that some of the digital sounds on G-Spot was made with this synth....
