Anyone seen this thing yet? It's a touch controller that responds to velocity and costs only 249 US for one unit which includes 1 overlay. Really interesting stuff. More units can be attached to make it larger. Looks like it could become a fantastic controller with the right overlay design. Possibly an inexpensive MPE device which can do many other things. The big issue with using an IPad for a controller is they don't respond to velocity, but apparently this thing does.

I've been keeping my eye on this...along with this:

Not that I can afford either, but I am curious which ends up the most expressive solution, especially for finger drumming (Would love an add-on that allowed me to break the traditional 4x4 grid, while offering super sensitivity, and great velocity scaling).

I supported the Kickstarter campaign and it just arrived today. Going to use it with Bitwig as an MPE controller. I got the music production overlay and the piano overlay. First time I tried the production overlay some of the pads in the 4x4 were mapped to control macros 1-8 with their pressure feedback in addition to notes of the piano roll. (But I'm also using Bitwig 1.3.16, not 2.1, so it might be something that behaves differently in ver 2). Gonna tinker with the mapping a bit.
But so far it's pretty cool and acts like an MPE controller... velocity sensitive, pressure sensitive, aftertouch, vibrato.
If you're going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.

Keep us updated, especially if you get around to trying some drum triggering :tu:

Thanks for the detailed video link.

I am considering buying the Sensel Morph. I was looking for a small economical 25 key midi keyboard. Ok, the SM is not economical (under $100) but it is not a deal breaker.

1. Mostly interested in the piano overlay.

2. Can it also be used as a touchpad in the absolute mode? Ok if can switch to relative mode. Use finger or a stylus to control the pointer?

3. Will wooden stick work as well as a finger?

4. Does the Sense Morph ever go on sale?

Would like to hear from users of the SM. All comments are welcome.

I like the thin profile which will allow I to go into the drawer under my desk top.

Costomizable yes, in the sense that you can make your own overlays.
I assume not an easy task.

Would like to see a Joué vs Sensel Morph review.

Strange that MPE is not mentioned on their site
https://sensel.com/pages/morph
So is it MPE capable?

Wonder if they will have a Black Friday sale.

I got the Sensel Morph working but have a question about the SenselApp.

I have two install files for the SenselApp.:
SenselApp0.19.28.exe
SenselApp0.19.28.exeWin32.exe
Both files want to install in C:\Progams Files (86)\SenselApp
The files sizes are fairly close.

Any suggestions?

OS is Windows Pro 10 64 bit.

I'm guessing you don't want/need the win32 executable on win 10 64 bit.

That is my guess also but both files want to install in C:\Programs Files (86)\SenselApp
Programs Files (86) is for 32 bit apps. I suppose you can put 64 bit apps in the Programs Files (86) folder.

If the app works "close integrated" with midi/audio programs then it might be useful to have both 32 and 64 bit versions installed?

If you happen to need to run some kind of 32 bit midi audio program then the 32 bit sensel app MAY work better with it? Just depending on various factors.

32 bit apps didn't instantly become useless just because 64 bit apps came along basically doing the same thing but with potentially bigger max memory usage. Many things don't need giant memory usage.

Maybe it wouldn't be as severe as 32 vs 64 bit vst plugins. 64 bit plugins on 32 bit hosts or vice versa can be quite a hassle.

i'm not completely sure about the exact differences between the two installers but according to the download links on the sensel webpage the first one is the right one for win 10 64 bit.
the sensel app is needed to manage yr sensel morph - configure the device, edit and upload maps for certain overlays, do firmware updates...
i think the installer brings more than just the app to yr system... driver, libs, etc. so that could be the difference between the two installers.
working on a win 10 64 bit system myself i used the first installer and everything works without problems.

tl.
