Ever since my linnstrument died on me I've been pondering another. Way out of my price range for the foreseeable future. While I can do a lot with my Artiphon there is more that I can't do with it due to limited range and functionality. I want something that can make the most of Mixcraft with EDM mindset. Mixcraft has many of the features of Abelton Live/ Bitwig. Apparently 8x8 is as big as it gets with conventional grid controllers. And even if it doesn't have mpe It still will give me a 5+ octave range

Any thoughts on launchpad pro vs competitor grid controllers?

I'm not a lot of help Mike as I'm an Ableton guy . . . but love my LPPro
I've used previously two iterations of the Launchpad and two versions of the TriggerFinger(the pro version of that looked cool but way too confusing in operation)
You'll want to make sure you can "finger drum" with the LPPro in your MixCraft deal-le-o

Thanks The performance panel in Mixcaft Pro 8 is near identical in function as the session view in ableton. Only bigger and going in a different direction.

I'm already fairy familiar with grid / touch playing. Either guitar position or laying down.

Though guitar position is a heck of a lot easier.

I was also on my way to mastering the linnstrument as a psuedo keyboard as well before it crapped out on me.

I think the larger pads will be a challenge for me at first. Heck the larger sized "cells" on the linnstrument when moving up from the ztar were challenge enough. The scaling on the artiphon makes for challenges as well. While I like the artiphon's mpe capabilites I'm just not adapting as well to it as either a table top or hand held instrument as I'd like. I feel like I have to over exaggerate to achieve desired velocity response from it.

Whoops screwed up that response. It's what I get for trying to post on two different forums at the same time
