I think the point of some of the mods is to make it sound a bit more like a real 303...

Maybe because as a synthesizer, the 303 clones can be brought into alien territory with some mods. You can still get you beloved and classic 303 sound and then go beyond that if needed. That’s for me the point in using electronic instruments.

A good example of that is the Avalon Bassline. It can be only 303 if you like it or something completely different. I like to support my words with facts, so at the risk of making self promotion, this is the playlist with my Avalon examples:

Yeah, I think the Avalon is great. Really cool.

Either way, I think with this TD-3-MO... Behringer may have cracked me. I think I will certainly pick one up. I'll just have to live with feeling a bit cheap and dirty every time I switch in on...

The Avalon is not discontinued. Some more are coming, afaik.

Yes, the TD-3-MO seems like a great value. Still very affordable, but way more flexible than the original TD-3 or 303.

The 3MO seems to sound better than the TD3. Like they included some of the users mods or something. For that price makes a real 303 an even sillier proposition that it currently would be....

The overdrive sounds pretty good. The td3 just doesn't seem to have the rubberiness needed to really sound acid...

Sorry for a noob question, that seems like a very basic thing that obivously should be there, but I'm asking just in case.

Is there any simple way to sync the internal sequencer to the DAW tempo? Do I need a special MIDI interface for that, or does it work just over USB?

Or if not, is it possible to set the exact BPM values within the synth itself?

I saw a video explaining how to use TD3 as a regular sound module playing midi from a DAW but I think the whole point of a 303 is the internal sequencer with the slides and accents.

Also in that scenario (playing midi from DAW) - is it possible to trigger accents from midi somehow (e.g. by specific velocity values, I think Phoscyon does that)

Fiddly IMO and another reason I haven't taken the plunge yet with a TD3 - the whole 303 programming thing is fiddly and I hated it first time around. 303s are one of the few synths I prefer s/w for - way more easy to program. The TD3 is just as painful as the original to program. I'll probably get one eventually though - have to say I loved the distortion on the TD3.

I understand it's possible both to sync the internal sequencer to a DAW and to implement glides and accents when sequencing the synth from the DAW, so I'll probably use the latter option if/when I get the synth.

Oddly, I prefer controlling/automating everything from within the DAW (I don't think I ever touched the surface of my Virus Snow except to switch it on and off), but in case of a 303 i really want to have these knobs in front of me, I use Phoscyon for my 303 needs as for now and while I like the sound I miss the direct inetraction with the knobs.
