Can someone explain Cyclop's FM synthesis (I understand FM synthesis)?

I absolutely love Cyclop, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around Cyclop's FM synthesis. I understand FM synthesis and have many FM synths.

Here are the things (I think) I figures out:
The mod knob is self modulating the Modulator.

Here are the things I kind of understand:
The difference between Serial and Parallel. It's not mentioned in the manual. If I have it set for Parallel, Carrier 1 doesn't seem to output, but will still modulate Carrier 2. If I set it to Serial they both output. Is this correct? if so, that is quite counter-intuitive.

The Ratios don't seem to work. Like if the modulator is 1/1 modulating Carrier 1 that is 3/1, I expect it to have a deeper tone, but that isn't happening.

Any explanations are appreciated. If possible, explain it in a FM8 (or any other fm synth) analogy.

thanks.

Hi jeffb01,

after checking your described behaviour here in our office we must admit that we indeed graphically mixed-up something in the Cyclop FM engine and therefore serial and parallel got reversed. Will be fixed within the next update. Sorry for the confusion!

Best,
Nadine
