Yup, I've tried that too. I don't have another host unfortunately. What a shame, the standalone works brilliantly!

? Upload a small Live project (no audio samples needed) that shows the problem so that someone-else can have a look. If it is small enough you could ZIP it and attach it here (using "Upload attachment", below).

Done. Just basic two tracks, main and sidechain.

Okay I got it working, I had to disable then re-enable the track. Not sure why what worked. Thank you guys! MXXX is a definite purchase for me.
