Good morning everyone.

My internet connection has been down for most of the weekend.
I'm doing the final tally right now.

Will post when I get done.

When I was a lad we had a 'Smith', 'Brown' & 'Jones' in my street. We allso had a 'Tom' & 'Dick' but sadly no 'Harry' :D

I'd also like to thank those who voted (not just for me) and especially those who took the time to do such exhaustive reviews. I find even a review of someone else's work is instructive.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was)

Maybe I could not read well enough, or you did not state it clear enough

Again - apologies! It was such a huge hit for the Carpenters here (#1 for 4 weeks, won a grammy) who Laura's Dad also cited; and it's such a part of pop culture (Ben Stiller's famous zipper scene in something about Mary, and the Simpson's doorbell played it relentlessly in one episode).

I should have remembered this is an international forum and some folks (apparantly in Germany for one) never heard of it.

No probs, mate!

You know we german folks don't know the world so well :hihi:
And though I'm a big Simpsons-Fan and fan of the carpenters too, I missed this out.
Nevertheless I think your version was much more funny then the carpenters' one. Congrats on making it the top ten :)

As I feel it's more part of American pop culture, at least for me I have to admit I only heard Bacharach on Tzadik tribute album and as a cover performed by Daniel Johnston. If I haven't spotted the comment in the gossip I wouldn't know. And who exactly is Ben Stiller?

yeah - sorry, it's what I meant - American Pop culture...although song was also #1 in Australia and top ten in UK, also had covers by Cranberries, Dionne Warwick, Hikaru Utada, Les Mouches, Barenaked Ladies etc...them's some internationals, methinks,

Ben Stiller is a comedic actor

Actually I think it must be my ignorance of pop culture, because I don't know any of these... :hihi:

Well, it seems to me everyone is ignorant of some things. :|

I mean, I never even heard of Poland until a coupla months ago. All this time I thought it was a suburb of Los Angeles.
