deastman wrote:Well, in that case I think we’re actually in agreement. Your voice is interesting and does have character and you can carry a tune. If you were to play to your strengths and develop a style that works well with your voice, it would serve you well. But if you want to explore many different styles which demand an accomplished and versatile singer, that is going to be hit or miss.

Oh, and Robert Smith is the singer from The Cure.
Ah, the Cure. Thanks. Never knew his name.

Glad we agree. Yes, I could become another Lou Reed or whatever and just write, whatever. But trust me, for a songwriter, that gets old after a while. So if it's a choice between writing songs that only fit my voice or writing songs that need numerous kinds of voices to fit them all, I'll choose the latter. Heck, now I'm actually writing songs that only girls can sing. Never would have happened 40 years ago.

How about becoming another Werner Herzog?

From my CD "Gates Of The Lord"

This song was performed at our church's Christmas pageant. It is also going to be performed by the grand chapter of the Eastern Star of NJ choir. It has also been requested by another church in our state. I am thinking of having this one published and sell it up at Music Notes.

One of the more commercial things I've done going by the reception this song has gotten by a lot of people.

The Joy Of Christmas

Celebrate the virgin birth
All around the whole wide earth
That is what this day is for
The joy of Christmas forever more

Tell your children of that day
When the angels came to say
Peace on earth good will towards men
The joy of Christmas now and then

We should celebrate all year
Do away with hate and fear
Christmas time from day to day
Love and peace to you always

If we find room in our hearts
To love Jesus from the start
That is what his love stands for
The joy of Christmas forever more

Repeat Bridge

If we find room in our hearts
To love Jesus from the start
That is what his love stands for
The joy of Christmas forever more

Voices they will ring out
We know how
Music we will bring out

V pop so true
V pop

It never ends
V pop it is your friend

Go again
Time for another round
It's a ten
Music will make the sound

Time is short
Take it for all you can
Pop is it
Music it makes the man

Repeat Chorus

V pop it makes the world go round and round
You can't escape the joy that is the sound
V pop is all the craze for everyone
So come and join us for the music fun and sun

Just submitted this one for this month's contest.

The Fall Of Spring

There's a chill in the air
And it means spring is here
Take a breath if you dare
Fall of spring soon is near
There's no stopping it now
There's no way there's no how
Spring is coming to end I vow

My most recent track from my current CD "Weather Report".

Every once in a while, I really get inspired. This is one of those rare times. IMO, one of my better ones.

Temperature's Rising

The heat is on
I can't hold back any longer
The love is gone
The pain it just makes you stronger

And I know that it's coming soon
Round the bend in the month of June
So beware cause I'm coming after you

Temperature's rising
And the passion has reached it's limit
There's no turning back now
And you're either out or in it
You can't cool down
Temperature's rising

You can't escape
I'll find you wherever you go
You call it hate
I call it love through a window

I can see that you're sweating hard
You can run but you won't get far
So beware cause I know just where you are

Repeat Chorus

From my CD "No Signal"

Hang Me At Noon

Hang me at noon
Underneath the clouds in the sky
Just do it soon
Cause I know it's my time to die

Its been so long
Since I've had a moment of peace
I have done wrong
And my life has run out its lease

Just do me one thing
I want to hear you sing
Sing our tune
When they hang me at noon

Hang me at noon
Cause this life has gone on too long
Please do it soon
Cause I know that I have done wrong

I broke your heart
When I went and cheated on you
Now we're apart
And I don't know what else to do

Repeat Refrain

Another one from my CD "Bananas Crackers And Nuts"

The Cornfield

Mama used to sing me the sweetest songs
But mama didn't hang around too long
Daddy took her away
To the cornfield the other day

She never came back and daddy disappeared
I always thought that seemed just a little weird
But I never said a word
Twas the last thing I ever heard

Until late one night
When the moon was shining bright
And mama walked into the room
Drinking whiskey and riding her broom and she said

Hide this gun before the law does come
Cause they're never gonna find your daddy son
I planted him in the cornfield with the scarecrows
He tried to do me in but I took that grin
And wiped it off his face with a fifth of gin
Yeah that's the way the story goes
Planted him in the cornfield with the scarecrows

Repeat Pre-Chorus and Chorus To Fade

Another one from my CD "The Reflecting Pool"

The Needle

Pierce the flesh of men
Time and time again
The needle to the last
All the lives now past

Truth of all our sins
So it now begins
The needle to the last
Death it now comes fast

No one escapes the needle
No one escapes the needle
It comes for all in due time
Soon it will call for your crime

My very first Vocaloid song

Walkin' Through A Hurricane

Our love is like walkin through a hurricane

Look into my eyes
Can you feel the fire?
Passion with no chains
Ecstasy no higher

Hold me
Thrill me
Scold me
Kill me
Feel the raging storm

Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane
Can you taste it?
And embrace it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane

We'll crash like waves upon the shoreline
Uh, uh, oh
We'll crash like waves upon the shoreline
Uh, uh, oh

Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane

Now the time has come
Wrap me in your rainfall
Open up the skies
Let me give you my all

Hold me
Thrill me
Scold me
Kill me
Feel the raging storm

Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane
Can you taste it?
And embrace it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane

We'll crash like waves upon the shoreline
Uh, uh, oh
We'll crash like waves upon the shoreline
Uh, uh, oh

Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Our love is like walkin through a hurricane

Another one from my CD "Bananas Crackers And Nuts" which was actually written on a dare. Long story. If anybody is interested, I'll tell it.

Tin And Bag

Hit the trail with my back pack on
Not a care in the world
Hit the trail til the blues are gone
Say goodbye to my girl

And so time to get on my way
Got everything I need to make my day

Got my tin and bag
Got my good old beer stained rag
Got my memories in my suitcase
Gonna play some laser tag
Got my hopes and dreams
Got eternity it seems
Got the whole world there before me
Though I'm not sure what it means

As I think of the years gone by
Wonder where they went to
If I had nothing left to try
But just one thing to do

Repeat Pre Chorus and Chorus

And so I go
One thing I know
There is a show
For me to be free

Repeat Chorus

wagtunes wrote:**WARNING** - Avoid this thread if you have no tolerance for bad music and vocals that sound like cats crying in the night. Otherwise, you have no one to blame for your suffering but you

With that out of the way, I've avoided this sub forum since my first encounter and the absolute tearing to shreds of my total lack of musical talent by one of the members here whose name won't be mentioned. It was without a doubt the most brutal post I'd ever read since being here. And it left me traumatized and swearing that I'd never post another song in the Music Cafe ever again.

Well, it's a good year later at least and I've finally come to terms with this place. Honestly, I don't care what anybody says about my music anymore and the only reason I'm even starting this thread is to give myself something to do. But rather than post a whole bunch of songs all over this sub forum and monopolize it, I decided to just make one thread. This way, it's easy to avoid. Every couple of days or so, I'll post another track. This will give everybody a chance to rip me a new one, those who derive pleasure from that practice. My only posts in this sub forum will be the tracks themselves. I will not be responding to any comments, good or bad. So if anybody has a question they want to ask me, PM me privately because I won't be checking this thread for replies.

Having said all that, I decided to make my first post a song that I just completed yesterday. I think it's one of the nicer songs I've written. Of course with Vocaloid vocals, well, you know. Still sounds like crap. And of course my mixing skills suck. Can't keep a steady beat (old tracks are really bad) and I only know how to use the white keys when composing. Never did figure out what those black keys are for. So you all will have plenty to rip to shreds in this thread. I hope it gives you a chuckle and some entertainment value. Feel free to post any derogatory comments you like. I'm even going to request the moderators to allow this thread be a place where you guys can let off some steam.

I guess this is my way of trying to show everybody that I can have a sense of humor and I can laugh at myself and not take any of this too seriously.

Okay, here is my most recent track with Avanna (my newest Vocaloid) on lead vocals. I like the quality of her voice but she has a terrible sibilance problem that the other Vocaloids don't have. Probably because she's a Vocaloid 2 product and all the other ones I have are 3s and 4s. Still, I like the way she sounds. The track is called "The Clock On The Wall" and I'm posting the lyrics in case anybody wants to follow along as Vocaloid lyrics are very hard to understand because they tend to be kind of robotic like a vocoder.

The Clock On The Wall

Two A M right now
As I'm staring into space
Can't escape my dreams
Better nightmares in their place
But all the dreams I have
Just don't matter much at all
When all I have is the clock on the wall

No one seems to care
For the dreamers in this world
Life it just goes on
There's no place for wishful girls
And all the dreams I have
Just don't matter much at all
When all I have is the clock on the wall

If only my dreams could meet reality
Oh what a wonderful place this world would be

But I'll sleep tonight
And wake up tomorrow morn
In between the dreams
Welcome death after they're born
Cause all the dreams I have
Just don't matter much at all
Even less than the clock on the wall

I love this song! I'm getting 10CC / Alan Parsons Project vibes in the best possible sense. I'd love to make a cover version, actually. I hope you're okay with that. Mostly for my own pleasure, of course, but I'll certainly let you know right away if I ever get around to it.

Having grown up with those two groups, you made my day. I hear the 10CC, not so much the APP, but I'll take it. LOL

And by all means, feel free to do a cover as long as I get a copy. LOL.

From my CD "Amp It Up"

The World's Smallest Violin

Another night of you whining
Another night of your tears
Another night of complaining
You know I've heard it for years

Cheese and rice that's all that you do
Well I've got just one thing here for you

It's the world's smallest violin
And it's playing for you
It's the world's smallest violin
Since you're always so blue
It's the world's smallest violin
And it's only for you
So take it on your chin
It's the world's smallest violin

Good Lord it never stops raining
Your tears can fill up the room
Another night of complaining
With you it's all gloom and doom

Repeat Pre Chorus and Chorus

Good grief man it isn't so bad
If you don't stop you're gonna drive me mad

Repeat Chorus 2x
