From my CD "Sins Of The Father", this one was performed by my church choir.

God Come Save Me Now

I'm a sinner not a saint
Won't pretend what I ain't
But I know what I need
So Lord I beg you please

Hear my words that I say
Come to you here today
From my lips hear my prayer
Cause Lord I know you're there

God come save me now
God come save me now
And I don't care how
Before you Lord I bow
God come save me now

All my life I've been bad
Threw away all I had
But I know what I need
So Lord I beg you please

God come save me now
God come save me now
And I don't care how
Before you Lord I bow
God come save me now

With you Lord I know I'm saved
From a world dark and depraved
Cause on the cross your life you freely gave

God come save me now
God come save me now
And I don't care how
Before you Lord I bow
God come save me now

Steve, I'm curious: do you prefer this studio, Cyber-Diva'd version to the recording of the live performance with your church choir that's currently on YouTube?

No judgement from me here, either way (though I do think it's a fine tune). I'm just wondering which of those two versions you feel is the more definitive one, and why.

I ask because this opens up some really (in my opinion) interesting angles as far as accuracy of performance, a composer's aims, pursuing the purity of one's own vision versus opening up aspects to other people's interpretations...

So, given that you've mentioned the complications and hassles of working with other people as an obstacle for you... do you feel that the studio recording you've posted here is a better representation of the song, to you, than the live performance video?

Honestly, look, I love my choir and the director. These are personal friends of mine. But the song was recorded from the back of the church on an iPhone. The quality is so-so at best. Plus, you've got me on lead vocals which doesn't help at all. In short, the church recording was simply not made under the best conditions. So on that alone, I prefer the studio recording. And that doesn't even take into account that we're talking a piano arrangement versus everything I had going on in the studio.

Having said that, I have no doubt that given the budget, the singers, the performers and doing the song right, my version would get totally blown away.

I'm also not a big fan of live recordings anyway, which is why it's rare that I go to a concert and actually enjoy the music.

In other words, take my comments with a grain of salt as coming from somebody who grew up on studio made recordings and really nothing else. That's the sound I like. Anything else just doesn't do it for me.

6th track from my upcoming CD "Weather Report"

Picked up a new Vocaloid today called YOHIO who (at the time of the making) was a 17 year old Swedish singer who could sing in English and Japanese. People say this emulation sounds very close to the real thing. IMO, he's real good for pop/rock vocals ala Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and the like.

Anyway, here he is with Dex and Cyber Diva doing background vocals.

This one's really catchy, to me anyway.

Another Port In The Storm

Hard times they are coming real fast
We don't know if we're gonna last
We've been this way often before
Don't know if we can take it no more

With time maybe we can get through
The days haven't been kind to you
I see trouble brewing ahead
I fear that soon love will be dead

Another port in the storm
Another brick in the wall for us to get through
Another port in the storm
Another army to fall whatever we do
It's all so disconcerting
This isn't time for flirting
We may be weary and worn
But we will be reborn
Another port in the storm

Rough seas never stopped us my dear
We'd march right through death's door of fear
This time isn't different at all
No way will the two of us fall

Title track from my Broadway style soundtrack "Once Upon A Time"

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time
In a land far away
Where my head once did lay
To sleep perchance to dream

Once upon a time
When my dreams all came true
Make believe time with you
Just floating down a stream

Those days now seem so long ago
The things that we both didn't know
If only we'd taken the time
I wouldn't be here in my prime...singing

Once upon a time
When I had not a care
When you always were there
Believing it would last

Once upon a time
When our love was brand new
When I had not a clue
That it would go so fast

If we only could return
Back to that time so we could learn
To not take so for granted all our time
I wouldn't be here in my prime...singing

Once upon a time
When you were my best friend
When it never could end
Once upon a time

Another track from my CD "Once Upon A Time"

Where Has My Prince Gone

Where has my prince gone
Where did he go
Why did this tale end
So long ago

Where has my prince gone
Does he not care
That this heart breaks so
When he's not there

If I only knew the words
To say to bring him home
I'd write them in a book
Or just a simple poem
Cause all I know is life
Just isn't worth the pain
If I can't have my prince
In my life again

Where has my prince gone
Where could he be
With someone other
Other than me

Where has my prince gone
Does he not care
That this heart breaks so
When he's not there

Repeat Bridge

Where has my prince gone
Where has my prince gone
Where has my prince gone
Far Far Away

Another one from my CD "Once Upon A Time"

If We Had Forever

If we had forever
If we could make time stand still
I would hold you in my arms
And love you until

The stars fell from the sky
And the heavens opened wide
If we had forever
I would want you by my side

Eternity with you
Would keep me from being blue
And most of all it would
Make my fairy tale come true

If we had forever
If we could make time stop
I wouldn't be at the bottom
I'd be living at the top

Of the world with you with me
On the land and on the sea
If we had forever
I would love you eternally

If we had forever
It wouldn't be long enough for me
If we had forever
My heart would finally...be free

From my CD "Back Together Again III"

Lyrics on this CD were written by my good friend Leonard Herman who I have now known for 50 years. This was our 3rd reuniting as collaborators.

Somewhere Down The Road

I’m packing my bags
And then I’ll get me some rest
I’ll leave in the morning
Starting out fresh
I’ll hitchhike to Austin
And keep walking west
Maybe someone will be waiting
In a cozy love nest

New York is so dirty
That it spoils the view
I’ll throw my past into the streets
And start out brand new
I have no expectations
So what could I lose
I see the road but don’t know
Where it’s leading to

Oh somewhere down the road there lies salvation
Somewhere down the road I will be free
Somewhere down the road I’ll find my haven
Oh somewhere down the road is set for me
I don’t want to retrace the past I came from
Moving on is’ the only way I’ll go
Right now my paradise is somewhat hazy
But it’s lying somewhere...somewhere down the road

I know every interstate
Highway that was made
I have maps in my pockets
And ideas in my head
My. life is on edges
And hanging on threads
I’m hitching across state lines
But I’m not sleeping in beds

And I keep with my pace
Neither quickly nor slow
I’m following the signposts
Telling which way to go
I don’t know where I’m heading
But when I get there I’ll know
It’s somewhere where the sun sets
Somewhere down the road

Repeat Chorus

From my current project "Weather Report"

Global Warming

Global warming
Global warming

Danger danger
How we gonna save her
Getting hotter
Go pray to the father
Melting ice caps
Catastrophic mishap
Is there nothing we can do

Global warming
We must heed the warning
Global warming
Blazing sun's a swarming
Mass extinction
God makes no distinction
And yeah we're all gonna die

Another one from my CD "Gates Of The Lord"

All For Christmas

It's that time again
Christmas cheer my friend
Time to make the most of that great day
All the love to share
We must be aware
That the gifts we give as we pray are

All for love
All for glory
All for Jesus
The virgin birth
All for me
All for you
All for Christmas
All around the earth

Something bout this time
Always bring to mind
Why we celebrate as we do
People rushing round
Just to hear the sound
Of the angels song singing true

Repeat Chorus

We'll do it for joy
For the baby boy
Just make sure you do it

Over the course of the next 8 days, I'll be posting songs, in order, from my prog rock CD "The Dungeon Masters" which is kind of a D&D music recording play on words there. I was really proud of this collection. Some people actually liked it a lot. Of course most people said it was crap.

Anyway, here is track 1 from "The Dungeon Masters", a prog rock concept album.

Return To Darkmoor

Casltes strong and heroes by the score
Peaceful mind returns to darkmoor
Searching through the embers
Ashes of our past
Dragons rule the land
Darkmoor returns at last

The part we play
Fighter, cleric, bard
It matters not
For they're equally hard

But we go on
For our cause is just
Dragons to slay
It's because we must

So our journey begins
We won't stop until
Until we win

Track 2 from "The Dungeon Masters"

The Gates Of Darkmoor

Outside the gates of darkmoor
Enter or die
Inside the minds of all our lives
We live the lie

Outside the gates of darkmoor
Dragons of fire
They lie in wait to eat us whole
Make us the liar

Inside the gates we stand
Facing the evil hand
Forward we go into
Hoping our sword strikes true

Our story for you

Track 3 from "The Dungeon Masters"

Inside The Castle

Inside the castle
Where danger lurks
Inside the castle
Where magic works

We forge ahead
Not afraid
Till dragons dead
Our quest made

Inside the castle
Who knows what's there
Inside the castle
No time to care

We all might die
In battle
But just beware
The rattle

Inside the castle
The fight is on
Inside the castle
Till evil's gone

Track 4 from "The Dungeon Masters"

Lords Of The Bones

Lords of the bones
All around us
Quite astound us

Lords of the bones
May defeat us
When they greet us

Yet we walk into
The den of death
Though not dead yet

Lords of the bones
Try to harm me
With their army

But our magic is stronger
We can outlast them longer

Lords of the bones
